Bought from @Skülly here a few years ago. Rode it a lot, toured on it fully loaded, never crashed it and it's in a similar condition to when I got it. Could do with a respray and I have repro decals including 531st/fork decals.
EG Bates frame & forks made from 531 Super Tourist tubes. Possibly
built for EG Bates shop by Dave Yates (he tells me he built tourers
for them), or another reputable builder of the time (presumably late
80s/early 90s).
Brazeons for mudguards & carrier racks, mid-fork, top and bottom eyes
on the forks, three bottle cages, pump peg, chain hook and rear brake
hanger loop for cantis. Brake bosses 72mm apart, I managed to get wide
rims (sputnik) with low profile canti pads in OK. Clearances for
32/35c max with muguards, more without. Lovely scalloped seat stay
caps, otherwise plain lugged, sloping fork crown, a classic tourer
build.
130mm OLN rear, 100mm OLN fork
ST 58cm c-c
TT 57cm c-c
27.2 seat clamp, in good state not ovalised & no cracks.
Tubes show two tiny toptube dents, otherwise just missing paint.
£180 including headset which is in great condition. (BB not included)
