• I’ve come across a build in the UK that I’m interested in but the seller is only willing to do local collection.

Does anyone know of shops in Derby or Nottingham? I’m wondering if any of them would be willing to receive, inspect and then ship it to me in the USA.

Any help would be appreciated. Pic of my bike for attention.

  • i don't but you could ask the seller if he would be willing to sell via ebay to you via the global shipping program, he would only be responsible for the frame to reach the UK depot, and he could get a store to pack it. you would both be protected for the transatlantic journey.

  • There is a max parcel size for Ebay UK GSP. Its hidden in the Pitney Bowes T & Cs somewhere. Think with careful packing you can "just" get a frame inside the dimensions (Not sure about a bike & not checked if terms have changed recently).

  • mmm i see. thanks for the insight.
i have sent a frame abroad last week, i didnt pay too much attention to packing, just shortened a regular bike box in length. think it was 90x75x22

  • Yeah I am not aware of anyone falling foul of the size restrictions and have no idea if, and how rigorously, it is checked, but it is there in the T&Cs along with comments about local disposal of parcel if doesn't meet their conditions.
Have a link and copy of it saved somewhere. If remember will dig out later.

  • having a quick google, it looks like one dimension shouldn't exceed 120cm, while the total volume shouldn't be over 12500cm3 ( which to me makes over 1 cubic meter ? ). it looks like a bike box ( not the massivest Mtb ones ) should fit right in.

  • That sounds very familiar. So your 90x75x22cm box would have been 148500cm3 so over size? As said not sure how rigorously they check it?

  • you're right, volume should be 1/8 of a metric cube. i was slightly over in size, but barely over 2kg so i guess it doesnt warrant a check

  • Good to know real world experience that can flex the rules slightly though!

  • yes. i always try to stick around 90x70x20, following parcelforce's price brackets.
That fixie is so tiiiight that it can probably be packed under that :)

  • Hey still looking, called several shops on the area but they said they weren't open to helping. Please let me know! It would mean so much.

  • Why not create another thread on here titled something like -

Anyone live in Derby/Nottingham who can help collect/post a bike to the US?
