  • That has the potential to be very nice. Is that a backhanded compliment? Perhaps....

Don't worry, I know exactly what you mean. Coloured tyres >>>>>

  • My forecasting tip - coloured tyres to make a comeback on road bikes summer '21. I quite like them.

Get rid of those spacers, and sort the bars and angles out, and that would already look pretty decent. Nice find.

  • Coloured tyres

    Dibs!

    Awesome rotta btw :)

  • ^ told you.

  • Nothing wrong with spacers if it makes the bike fit. Just needs some less bulky pedals, maybe some more Zonda's - though there's nothing wrong with these Vento's, a modern bar, black tyres and that seat post mounted cage needs to go, too! All minor changes other than the wheels, really.

  • Hmmm.. I am not fashionable though :)

Thanks, you're welcome to them for that comment 😂

  • maybe some more Zonda's

There's a possibility for some 38mm chinese carbon, just working out the budget...

I agree but have you seen it?!

  • Yes. Looks fine. Those bars probably have close to 100mm of reach, anyway, so with some shorter reach bars, you should be able to effectively have the same reach by dropping the stem ergo cutting out spacers anyway.

  • But then you're lowering the stack, which was probably the main reason for the spacers.

  • @Tijs I feel like James collected it in this condition and is not his fit. But I could of course be wrong.

  • Yeah, you're right. I don't know his fit, so he might as well doesn't need the spacers.

  • This is 100% post collection - only got it Monday.

Probably going to need a longer stem and to drop it by at least one spacer, so you both sort of win.

  • 10 years old and still as comfortable as the day I first got it.

  • chap is on here or used to be. Cornish bike or something

  • Yip that’s mine,

  • Finally managed to get it shod properly and find a seatpost with enough length. Almost certainly the best bike I've ever ridden, deletes the road chatter yet also just wants to go fast.

Updates will be slow as I'm moving house in the next few weeks but I'm thinking black on black Deda Zero2 for the stem/bars for stealthy vibes. Will be a shame to get rid of the bar tape but it's dead with very little cushion left. Slamming the stem may be entirely possible, watch this space....

  • I thought I saw this at Regents this morning... looked amazing. I was on a pink/purple Columbus Max thing

  • Forgot to post this in this thread. New to me Kirk frameset from 2017. As close as you’ll get to a Serotta nowadays. Mixture of 953 and 853 Pro. Really great bike.

  • That would be it :)

  • Very nice - do you wipe the bar tape down every time you ride it? 😉

Something I found out recently from trying to ID my new one is that David Kirk is very active on the Serotta Facebook groups and will often help out in identifing old frames, top lad.
