For me it was simply a case of refusing to use shite options and get people to use Signal if they want to talk to me. Maybe it helps being a psychopath but friends don't let friends use Whatsapp.
-
• #2928
Ah, cheers - I didn't know (or had forgotten) that you could do that with WhatsApp in the first place, so that explains it.
-
• #2929
You mean Signal won't track your location? I consider that a feature.
If you want to send a location, send a google link or something.
-
• #2930
Any opinions on Threema as a WhatsApp alternative?
-
• #2931
Yeah, use Signal.
-
• #2932
Doesn't Signal use GSF?
Feds just need to ask Google for the meta data relating to your app use then...
-
• #2933
Feeds can ask Google for Android data already so gain nothing more than that rich pool. Signal stores nothing of value and the metadata is pointless when it cannot be correlated to users and conversations.
Feds can definitely ask Apple and Google for their device related data, but they're probably already doing that. What the feds want is messages, or to know who is messaging who and when... Signal doesn't store that so it's impossible to get data that isn't there.

Not sure where to put this, but there's a big data 'consolidation' going on in the NHS, where GP's records are copied to a central database for research purposes:
https://www.theregister.com/2021/05/13/nhs_data_grab/The not-well-publicised opt-out form is here:

EDIT: link. Thanks Aggi -

It's easier to opt out from here.
https://www.nhs.uk/your-nhs-data-matters/manage-your-choice/
You can do it all online from that page. -

I guess they still respect the choice from a couple of years ago when they last tried this shit
-
• #2937
And the time before that
-
• #2938
Was I here? I don't know. Maybe I've opted out more than once before.

I reckon this will be the last time there is an option - The govt (irrespective of whether it's tory or labour) will ignore any concerns and have everything lumped together aNoNymOUslY for

Saying that - my GP record only goes back 9 years.
Somehow it was lost.
I wonder how that could have happened.
-
• #2941
It wouldn't surprise me if its already been let loose to be honest. We just don't know about it yet

Found this website with loads of help about the opt out process https://medconfidential.org/how-to-opt-out/

Do not let Kaspersky Password Manager generate passwords for you.

Not the most informative post so let me know if still have any questions.Unfortunately it's not really working anymore so I just mainly use it as a smart TV.
Specifically in relation to using a VPN it interfered with using Netflix so I kept turning in on/off until ultimately I stopped turning it back on.

Email.
Does anyone have a good guide on what to use and how?
I've realised that I've got to rethink and implement a new strategy.
Cheers.

End of a relationship thread >>>>>>
There's a few bits and pieces that aren't quite as good but the one that I mainly remember is you can't share a live location with Signal.
