Thanks for the advice all re: scanners. Food for thought.

• #22053
Yea, I have the v750 but it never gets really sharp, just a bit less fuzzy.
-
• #22054
Yeah. My v700 is a bit disappointing for 35mm tbh.

I think it's the tiny lens in the scanner that can't resolve that much detail.

Anybody has a pentax espio mini?

Yea I do.

Anybody interested in a free new CR123 Duracell battery? Found one in a drawer whilst packing and I'm not going to use it. I'd rather have someone use it than putting in the recycling.

Is there a thread on the subject of camera-straps for cycling? -

Wow I'm an idiot. I got a couple of Minolta SLRs in an auction (SRT 303 and an XD11) thinking I'd keep one and sell the other, but almost dropped the SRT when I was unrolling it from the bubble wrap and put a big greasy thumbprint on the mirror as I caught it. Is it worth trying to get that off gently with some lens cleaner or something or is that just going to do more harm than good?

Just try and gently clean it I reckon. There’ll be mirror wipes available online for sure. It’s only for the viewfinder, so it won’t affect your photos.
Edit, unless you fuck up the focussing. I reckon I am bang wrong, lol. Ignore me.

Unless you really know what you are doing and are super careful it will do more harm than good, I'd just leave it alone.

Is there anyone here, London based, who has done weddings on film before? Some friends are after someone for theirs this July 3rd. Informal/smaller event, and they dont need top quality professional shots. Feel free to get in touch by PM if so. Thanks

Has anyone seen that CINESTILL CS "Temperature Control System" TCS - 1000 ??
(warning: absolutely obnoxious elevator music in the demo video)

Testing a Olympus MJU II + Kodak gold 100, unknown expired date. The front clam.shell, battery door and read door were broken so replace with a donor body. There is a spacing issue between frames and a small light leak near viewfinder by the looks of it.

I'm after a 35mm compact of some sort. What's a decent budget option that's small enough to just leave in a frame bag all the time? Would love a Mju II but they seem to go for £100+ which is a bit much for me. I had one years ago that I got for a fiver in a charity shop, I think I gave it away to an ex girlfriend.

In my opinion, the Konica Big Mini or A4 is a pretty good shout, nice lens, can turn flash off and has a 'close up' mode (which is slightly unnecessary but an additional feature nonetheless).
The Big mini has been steadily increasing in price recently, not quite Mju II prices but edging closer towards an average of £100. In comparison, the konica A4 is still relatively underrated and cheaper than the big mini despite the fact that both cameras are essentially the same, except from branding and name - same lens, body and functions on both but the A4 is less known. Theres currently an A4 on ebay for £50 but I'm not sure how long it'll last for: (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/363371659062?hash=item549aa37f36:g:r4sAAOSwZExgg~LX)
Hope this helps. I've got both the Big mini BM 201 and the A4, great konica lens, definitely comparable to the MJU II.

Thanks for the detailed reply! I'm feeling impulsive today so just bought the A4 you linked to, ha ha. Seems like it'll be perfect for what I want it for. Now I need to sell a couple of cameras so that I'm not skint for the next few weeks.

I've been staggered by the quality of the images my Ricoh ff70 takes. Pretty much as good as my Contax T2 if the conditions are good. I got mine for £30 and although some chancers have them at BIN on eBay for £100+ if you can grab on cheaper at an auction you'll be laughing. I use it exactly as you intend - bottom of a camera bag that's chucked in and forgotten about to some extent. It's not as small as a Mju but you could still get it in a frame bag

I've got this camera's predecessor, the FF-3, and have also been really impressed with it. Dedicated flash button which always defaults to off (which was something that annoyed me with the Mju II), quick to use and seems pretty bombproof.

That sounds like a good bet to. Will have a look into that if the A4 doesn't work out! Cheers.

Can’t fault my mju i, can still occasionally be had for cheap. I must admit that the compact camera market is a bit too bonkers/frustrating for me tho. Prices are ridiculous.

No worries!
Lol, that was quick, I'm glad you got it, excited to see how it works out for you :)
You can do this on a flatbed. It’s just a protracted process. The epson film holders have height adjustment for this very reason.
