  • It’s sort of a “don’t be a dick” deal in the country here. If it’s fenced off, don’t go. If it’s not, use common sense.

  • Jumped on this yesterday after not riding it for 2 weeks and only riding my other bikes.

I can't believe how snappy and twitchy it felt. In a good way. Rides really good off road.

Does need a new paint job and get rid of the red tbf.

  • .

  • Uncivilised, lawless savages! I bet they are also fond of the EU.. Must be France

  • Have we discussed the slick rear, knobby front tyre combo yet? I'm a fan.

  • it is well documented in volume 3 of "the Instagram bike build guide" and episode 2 of "how to build your own crust", it was also referenced in the work of N.O. Gravelle historically

I for one am a fan

  • One of those PDQ melters whacked my kid over the head with his bike. Didn’t even notice he’d done it. CSB

  • ffs.... he okay?

  • I agree to the more grip to the front if I have to choose, but do you have a strong argument for the less grip to the rear?

  • speeeed

  • Well, slicks was my starting point. So rear grip stays the same (never felt like I needed more), and front grip increases (prevent wheel slide out on the rough stuff).

Don't they do this on MTBs? Fast rolling tyre on the rear, grippy one on the front.

  • Yep. Both the MTB and gravel bike here have bigger, grippier tyre on the front.

  • Cool, so I am on the same page, increase the grip at the front, if anything.

Like the Belgians say, it's not about how much grip you can have, it's about how little you can have.

  • how do they stop people walking into their land.

They don’t. Britain basically exported the idea of trespass.

Under the proposed Police, Crime and Sentencing bill trespass becomes a criminal (rather than civil) offence.

    Fun times.

  • Slide at the back can be fun. Slide at the front, not so much.

  • grippy out front, party round the back

    That actually is fun times.

Also introduces great potential for over-thinking (which beikdorks love).

  • Yeah fine he was cycling past mr flamboyant bike swinger, copped it on the helmet and carried on didn’t want a fuss...still I have vowed to badmouth PDQ ever since

  • Totally Fair.

  • sir, please no zed-posting... this is main

  • Also a fan.

Kinda happened by accident for me. Bike is fixed and makes me want to ride like a hooligan so I need a tyre that can take skidding or tarmac as well as gravel.

  • I used to ride to the top of hills in Melbourne and do skids hundreds of metres long (literally two skids on a bmx with brand new blue tyres! got such a bollocking) and now I shit my pants if I lose traction for a second. #middleagethread

  • Is that cos crap clearance at rear?

  • Non matching tyres is triggering me...

  • Mismatching brand tyres
