  • OK. it is really lovely!

  • Thanks! I didn't explain it very well, but yes you're right, the stays are upside down. I kind of liked the line they make with the same angle as the eye-bearing/pivot plate that separates the fork segments anyway. One of the stays on the rack is slightly precarious so I may end up having to replace it anyway one day. Also hoping to build some kind of Decaleur that will serve a barbag on that rack.

  • I’d say that’s the finest bike you’ve built to date old chap.
    Chapeau etc

    Does it wheelie?

  • No worries, I understood. It's quite a peculiar rack too. It fits well with the brakes aesthetically imho and shouldn't be too hard to expand or modify I guess.

  • Does it wheelie?

    curios about this too.

  • & @edmundro
It is a bit back-heavy yes, there is a tendency for the front wheel to leave the ground. Not sure what climbs I’ll attempt on it...

  • Lovely, now do a tag on it. The current one is eminently within your reach. :)

  • Beautiful! Time for some wheelie practice.

  • He wouldn't even have to pedal. Could just roll down the hill.

  • What a crazy good bike! Love it!

  • Amazing, good work.

  • Thanks buddy, glad to hear it.

It did seem a bit crazy this morning, trying to climb a winding drag of a hill near me into this wind. It is not a climbing machine. Time to move back to the flatlands I think.

  • Time to move back to the flatlands I think.

    New Cross?

  • Ha yeah it wouldn't be far. I was thinking more like East Anglia or the Ouse Valley.

  • I will allow till Woolwich

  • Reporting back on this, I make everyone who shows an interest have a ride on it. Been commuting a lot on it, a fucker to lift but it’s worth it to ride it through town daily. Super-upright riding is really worth considering re posture, if anyone’s curious. I actually reckon it’s closer to walking than any bike I’ve ridden, in a good way.

  • Go to bed Skully, you’re drunk.

And yes, riding it did make me laugh out loud.

  • Did I spot this in Forest Hill yesterday morning? Or is there someone else pootling around on something equally mental?

  • Hey
Just saw this comment!^ Yep that could have been me, sometimes pootle there for a coffee before WFH. Though there’s another one owned by a guy in the Forest Hill area, with copper-plated finish I believe.

  • Glad you got one. I ended up swapping my cheltenham pedersen (the silver one you tried out) for a Copenhagen one. The Cheltenham went to a small collection of Mikael Kemper who makes Kemper pedersens , and he gave me a larger Copenhagen.

    How are you finding it?

  • Excellent work. Wish I had the skills to attempt anything close to it. Love the eccentricity of the ride and the interaction that must occur when riding

Hello! God you posted this aaages ago
Yes I loved trying your silver Cheltenham, gosh it was lovely. Glad you made a decent exchange … so Herr Kemper has a collection, well of course!

It’s lovely! Really enjoy it on road and paths. Have had some issues with brakes, am about to try a different approach.
