Thomson seatposts slipping - a recurring issue?

  • I bought one years ago and could never get it to stop slipping on my steel frame. I think mine was actually a 26.8 incorrectly marked as a 27.2, but regardless I've recently read on here about 3 other Thomson seatposts slipping:

    Someone told me they say their seatposts are actually more accurate and it's other manufacturers that have slacker tolerances; but even if true, the issue seems to be that it's usually their seatposts that slip.

    Just flagging in case other people are having the same issue. I nearly deformed my seat-tube over-tightening the clamp area, so don't make the same error...
