I just got one, it’s not that big (basically the same as the 8 plus I previously had). The sides are slippery though, which seems an odd choice.

When my 6 wouldn't update anymore, went for an XS, bit of a size upgrade, but just faster all the way around, and not too pricey buying the phone outright secondhand/refurbished and then running it on giff gaff..

I've got a 12 Pro cause of the camera tech (really feels like a jump in quality), but wish they did a mini pro, I miss the small phones. I still have my SE as a backup phone.

Apparently the mini is already on its way out as sales have been shocking.
I think if they'd done a pro one, it would have flown off the shelves.

This sounds ideal and if refurbs are okay, I’m in! thanks...
-
• #17932
Nice one thanks... more thoughts are I’m probably looking to buy outright, as I have a complicated data-only-sharer-sim thing going on.
But that looks a great deal : ) -
• #17933
Yeah, my thoughts exactly. Poor choice in design the mini, doesn't really give anything to the people who recently would have upgraded to the recent SE

I love my iPhone 12 mini. Perfect size, performs well, camera certainly feels good enough.

Another vote for the 12 mini. I love mine. Cheap gel case and a separate screen protector are keeping it in good nick.
Hated the 2020 SE I had from work. Too slippery and didn't like the feel, might have been better with a cheap gel case but never bothered. Glad it got sent back to work.

Love my 12 Mini. Feels like it’s a 5+ year keeper, just like the SE I had before it.

Is it an Apple 'thing' to quote a delivery date then deliver a few days before? Seems deliberate to promote 'YEY! Apple delivered ahead of quoted time A+++' kind of thoughts.
Cynical i am. -
• #17938
It wouldn't fit in some of my pockets, I don't need a pro camera and it's very easy to grip because it fits easily in the palm. I had a 6s for a long time, this was the perfect upgrade for me.
Seems people who love their 12 mini really love it. Everyone else can be in love with their form factor though.

I am getting my Amazon orders a lot earlier since Brexit kicked in, even the free delivery is usually days early. The courier companies are probably less busy.

This video
seems to suggest tracking is possible at least up to the thief’s home (if they have an iPhone), at which point they would get a notification and an option to deactivate. And if they don’t take it home or have an android then I’ve read elsewhere that it would only deactivate after 3 days.

Yep I ended up going the Mac route, pretty much for that reason. Actually got a Macbook Air with the same spec, probably should've used the refurb store but had a work discount and was pretty happy with that saving.

A very long thread on the experience of buying a PC from Dell. Seems like he actually has himself to blaim but still, this is a huge part of why I'm happy to pay a premium for Apple stuff

Cute thread, but what was this dude doing trying to buy a b2b workstation from Dell for Business, seemingly with no idea of what he wanted it to do, in the first place?
-
• #17944
This is riveting and I can't stop reading it whilst ignoring work but it doesn't seem to have an end in sight, i'm scared to scroll down to check incase I can't find my way back to where I currently am.

Even if you ignore that he (rather unbelievably) misspecced the computer, everything else about it is awful. i.e. We’ll sell you bits but can’t tell you what will work together and can’t help you if it doesn’t.
-
• #17946
B2b Dell workstations aren’t meant to be bought by end users; this is why corporates have IT staff who know what they need their machines to do and liaise with their Dell Business account manager to spec and purchase them.
This dude was well out of his depth and unsurprisingly got fed through the corporate grinder. He spins a good yarn tho...

Alright done, good thread, I proper feel for him and Dell should really be making some hardware selection decisions on behalf of their buyers under the 80/20 rule. Push people into NVMe/ SSD where clear bottlenecks appear, but for the 20% or less of people who have niche reasons to override, give them the option to do so with a warning/suggestion of the impact.

If the Dell website is anything like it used to be (can’t be arsed looking) there are a million paths through it intended for slightly different market segments and it’s very hard to know which one you’re meant to be using.

urgh, people like this need to stop. Go back to Tumblr and write a shitty blog, no one wants to read 10 one word tweets in a row.

Also found it strange that he went through speccing a PC while clearly not having much of a clue. Just had a look at Dell's UK business site and it's a right jumble of links and stuff. Saw a few desktop workstations without SSD's but they're around £500, that if anything should be a warning sign.
Either way. He should've done his research but Dell has a fair bit to learn as well.
Also, if you spend your time doing videos for a living, isn't a mac generally the go-to option?
+1 for 12 mini. Swapped an 11 pro for it and prefer the smaller size
