I just got one, it’s not that big (basically the same as the 8 plus I previously had). The sides are slippery though, which seems an odd choice.

It wouldn't fit in some of my pockets, I don't need a pro camera and it's very easy to grip because it fits easily in the palm. I had a 6s for a long time, this was the perfect upgrade for me.
Seems people who love their 12 mini really love it. Everyone else can be in love with their form factor though.
