Vanilla Sky
Saw it BITD and recall not enjoying the experience.
Saw it was on streaming, so gave it a go (being older and wiser, I might have a different experience)
Didn't hate it, but fuck me it's long. -

Stowaway on netflix. well made but why was it made?
it's basically the 90 minute directors cut of what's normally a 15 minute scene in every other space movie where they need to fix something on the ship or they all die within the bigger (and hopefully more interesting) plot

Peanut Butter Falcon. Simple yet enjoyable film with shia labeouf being usual shia labeouf.

Watched Nomadland last night- she’s so easy and watchable as an actor, the non acting cast is great; the rest is this blend of sadness, melancholy and optimism.

Films seen recently
Better Days
Chinese film providing an indictment on bullying and pressure cooker educational system. Strong
Let Him Go
by the numbers thriller / drama but with some strong acting from cast
Bait
pretty sure discussed here before, beautiful and interesting impressionistic style taking a critical look at the gentrification of our coastal towns by us down from London types -

Great to see Daniel Kaluuya getting the Oscar for best supporting role (playing the joint lead...). Hard to think of an actor who's had such a solid run lately

Everything I've seen him in has been great. Not got round to Judas And The Black Messiah yet but looking forward to it.
I did a Roddy Piper double bill last night. They Live and Hell Comes To Frogtown. Both absolute bangers.

Did you love it?
It's an 80s favourite of mine.

Fuck yeah. It's fucking awesome. I'm massively ashamed I never watched it as a teenager.
I watched something very similar and can't remember what it was. -

The original TV series was overrated shite.

Definitely bottom of that list but still a decent enough film IMO. RT has critics way up on audience but i remember liking it for it's 90's thriller vibes.
Not sure if it's a good comparison but i always thought Set it Off was underrated.

Heartbreakers - absolute guilty pleasure in my house.
It's not good by any stretch, but it is entertaining, and has some pretty impressive casting (Sigourney Weaver, Gene Hackman, Ray Liotta, but also Jason Lee and Jennifer Love Hewitt)
Sort-of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels-lite with the ladies doing the scheming. -

Turned into an H movie double bill, and watched the 2018 Halloween. Inspired by it being the equinox between all hallows eves.
I like it, good nods to the original, but without being too hammy.

really enjoyed Nobody, good balance of action and humour. All killer, no filler

Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar
It takes about ten minutes to get into the groove of this film then you just enjoy the ride.
Best friends Barb and Star leave their furniture store job to go on holiday in Florida, where they get tangled up in adventure, sex, and a super-villain's killer mosquito plan. Great fun.

Will give that a go.
Got half way through the Irishman last night but was a bit pissed and the edible was kicking in so my wife turned it off before I fell asleep, good stuff so far. -

Palm Springs, starts well but looses momentum and i've already forgotten what happened in the last third.

You've forgotten it 900 times before.

Never even knew that it was a tv show first, but yeah the first steve mcqueen film i thought the trailer looked good and then the film was guff.
Honestly couldn’t believe how cack it was when I watched it. Maybe I was completely misremembering, but I swear people had said it was good. Genuine nonsense.
