I admire your dedication in trying to get that name to stick, I've been waiting in vain for Sullivan to crop up in Cold War Steve in his velvet jacket holding a dildo...

VAR was ok yesterday. Other days not so.

Average age is skewed by Cliveo though.
I have noticed that a lot of people on here who I used to think of as young and wet behind the ears are now middle aged and wet behind the ears.
The middle age thread is a bastion of youthful exuberance.

and the red trouser average
Sadly, I am told by my daughters, red trousers are as alive among tribalists of their generation as much as mine.

When will Harry Kane be able to add more than runners up medals to his dusty trophy cabinet?

So it now emerges that Ed Woodward and ManU had a meeting with Johnson (the Tory leader) a few days before the ESL announcement, in which they outlined their plans. He was neutral on the issue.
That is, until he saw the public mood and shifted his view to the extent that he claims to have been responsible for putting the kibosh on it.

He presumably went home after the dinner, and wrote two speeches, for and against the idea. Just to be prepared for the public reaction.

• #156162
Who knew Ed Woodward would finally prove useful?

Johnson really is, to quote Michael Hesseltine “a man who looks to see which way the crowd is going, then runs to the front and shouts ‘follow me!’”

Chelsea looking very good, then some class from Pulisic.

Entertaing game but Chelsea should be ahead missing some good opportunities. Playing well. Good goal from Pulisic.
Still nervous -

Great goal by Benzima too

Would’ve settled for a 1-1 draw beforehand, need to start banging in a few goals to find some rhythm up front soon. Difficult return leg awaits.
Two great goals tonight and Kante is from a different planet. His game intellect is something else.

He is amazing it was like there were 2 of him last night.

Would never have thought that we would have been disappointed with a 1-1 draw.
Interesting to compare that performance to Barcelona in 2012 where we were, even before the red card, on the back foot. Yesterday we played a dominant game and they looked past their prime.
We have more rest before next week’s game and less travel. Just need a clean sheet and a couple of goals.
I don't follow this thread regularly, bit I presume VAR has been covered and the conclusion was it is an ill thought through stain on the game that will damage the game more than the ESL would have?
