Do the right thing and support your local cobbler and keep your shoes. Same monies, better for everyone involved.

Through-sole and heel was always around £50-60 here (at the cheapest places), so I guess that money isn’t far off. I guess you could try a different cobbler though?
Alternatively, see about just getting a stick-a-sole (rubber half sole) placed over the worn leather.
It should be much cheaper and allow you to keep wearing them until the rubber wears out, and again replace with new rubber without losing any more leather sole. This is what I’ve done in the past to avoid rebuilding a shoe.

I was more worried about the quality of the work TBH, let's see how we go... Everyone wears flip-flops here, shoe repairs is a bit of a niche thing in Queensland...
@pdlouche I've gone for full leather sole and new heels... I will do my research next time, the holes kinda took me by surprise and I dashed out to find a cobbler that day... It's been nice to wear my Redwing mocs, it's cooling down a little bit so they haven't been too warm...

Nothing to stop you putting a SAS on top of the new leather soles, standard practice to aide grip and reduce resoling costs.

Bit late but Paul Smith had some good ones for about £60 in their sale (which has now finished).
Still some decently priced ones to be found, think most of them are still made in Italy.

Someone local might fancy these, the Mary Portas' charity shop in Blackheath has these brand new grensons for £55, size 8 in the shoe, but they are sized more like a 9, I take a 9.5 in Redwings and they were a little tight.
They've got 3 or 4 more other pairs of more trad shoes too.

You have my deepest sympathy.. I'm dreading having inevitably to iron shirts and wear shoes again after two years of trainers at work (plus WFH).

Time to get to TK Maxx, actual massive reductions on some stuff. Stupid prices on others. Good week to get some shoes.

Scored a pair of J M Weston ‘eugene golf derby’ in brown suede (not golf shoes) from a vintage clothes shop in Bexhill yesterday, very happy with them!

just bought some knackered red wing chukkas on ebay for fairly cheaps. Mainly to see if they fit.
Can these be re-soled?
-
• #7769
Yes, if you are in London I've had a few pairs of Redwings done with Vibram soles at a place on City Road EC1V.

Could you let me know the details please? Not for redwings but some loafers

I had my Mocs resoled through the Redwing store in Soho, did a great job and didn't cost a fortune...

You haven’t been to Classic Shoe Repairs in Brecknock Road N7; isn’t your work just around the corner?

And RIP Michael, always such a nice man, consulting on my OG Grensons.

I’m guessing I’ll need to do a proper cleaning job to fix the uppers? Reno Mat, Renovateur and black cream to restore or is it too late?

Was giving my Bass Weejuns a little buff yesterday and noticed the sole was just starting to wear through... Took them to the nearest cobblers, it's in a shopping centre but apparently their work is pretty good... $99 for new leather soles and heels... They only cost me $99 delivered from the UK!!! 🤔ðŸ¤
