  • Thirsty Chrysler V8s.

I had a '68 GM 350 that was pretty thirsty - the 6000lbs Gross Vehicle Weight and 2 speed Powerglide automatic transmission didn't help.

Not as bad as having a later model 400 ci GM idling through 5 gallons in a parking garage trying to leave an arena concert (Def Leppard in case you were wondering). Although that same car took 6 of us across Texas (north to south) in a single tank. Momentum is your friend.

  • When the Haynes manual says you can’t bleed the clutch by pumping the pedal and you need a power bleeding kit: is that 100% true, or is there a workaround?

(Mk5 Golf, shit the bed reversing down our drive, won’t disengage clutch)

  • On my second Giulia. Sadly now the platform had been cancelled in the stelantis master plan.

  • Fluid is drawn through to the end, or pushed through from the clutch.

  • I did see that and a real shame . It will be interesting to see what my dad does when his PCP ends in the next few months.I reckon he might buy the Veloce outright as he enjoys it so much. I think he bought his first Alfa back in 1968 .

  • No idea , after a discussion with a friend of the family , petrol head solicitor , the dealer offered to buy it off me at what I thought was a fair price.

I think I bought a mk3 golf gti next , obviously thinking of German v Italian engineering . It was only the 8v which proved to be very dull , however in bright red it must of impressed my now wife , when I first pulled up outside her house.

  • Loved it and it ran like a dream until one day ,

Famously another one of my old bosses had a 147 which erupted into flames on M25 he was just back from our company golf day (bleurgh) and had borrowed his mates expensive clubs which melted in the boot .... LOLZ

  • however in bright red it must of impressed my now wife , when I first pulled up outside her house.

    ZING!

  • What I really want tho

  • But for now the 2008 159 JTDm will have to do...

  • So do I.. but in green.

  • Imagine the “estate” version of that ..... ultimate rad dad mobile .

  • Totally wonderful. Great to see it out and about

  • My girlfriend wants me to get a Maserati because of the noise of that V8, they’re getting quite cheap now. Ominous music

  • Morning all.

I wondered if anyone might be able to point me towards a decent buying guide re Golf mk7s?

I'm in the market for a dependable hot hatch. Budget 5-10k.

  • Perfect for you - a one off.

Its actually a diesel underneath, economical for those long drives to your local Maserati service centre.

  • This one comes with the special upgrade option of a transporter to take it back every time it breaks down .

  • Have we done the bmw x5 with the Le Mans p75 (upgraded version of the engine from the mclaren f1)?

Thought they were being a bit cautious with the ear defenders....... until they started it - faaaaarck.

  • Old Masers get quite cheap for a reason. Lease a new one or walk away

  • True.

What happened to make the 147 do that.

    Alfa Romeo did.

  • Ha Ha, so after a service!

Bit like my Delta that did not like starting after a service. Co-incidence that the power cable to the starter was cut.

  • I so want to disagree with you and say you are so fucking wrong, but you hear what you are saying. From my bi turbo experience, the interiors are fucking amazing. Seats, carpets and dash are sumptuous with a real luxury feel. The suspension parts are folded metal that rust or are so weak that undoing trying to undo rusted bolts snaps the suspension and not the captive nut or the bolt.

This was a UK car that had been cared for...then abused. No body corrosion tho.

    While

  • Kerbed an alloy earlier - any reccos for places in East London to fix it?

  • Nice - they get good reviews and not so far away from me. Cheers mate
