Thirsty Chrysler V8s.
I had a '68 GM 350 that was pretty thirsty - the 6000lbs Gross Vehicle Weight and 2 speed Powerglide automatic transmission didn't help.
Not as bad as having a later model 400 ci GM idling through 5 gallons in a parking garage trying to leave an arena concert (Def Leppard in case you were wondering). Although that same car took 6 of us across Texas (north to south) in a single tank. Momentum is your friend.

My old boss has one. It was originally owned by Ginger Baker who totalled it in Africa on some sort drug enduced safari.
