I would get something built - work out the dimensions of your sneakers and then how many and spec it up with a carpenter. Built in will be better use of space and look neater
I know you're right. I think it's complicated by the fact I wear a 41 and my wife a 36 so mine take up more room.
I’m an 11.5 and wife is 4 We had different size shelves built either side of a chimney breast at the old house and it worked well
Generally I find most shoe storage solutions flimsy / ugly / no UV protection etc
