Thanks for the comments internet strangers, I believe the write up was needed as a catharsis because fuck me is it a lot of work. But I kept sane by imagining the satisfaction when it's all done. It sure is worth it, one of the most beautiful designs from that era imo. And this is an investment for a long time to come, it should hopefully hold another 30 years in its renovated state. Also, yes, keeping it original was the plan all along; the original cover colour is what sold it to us. Works well with the plants and all the other wood furniture we have and is not as prone to soilage as the original imagined creme/beige coloured sets.

The bin bag vacuum is a clever trick, although I am not sure it'll work in this case. The spring coil construction is already almost as thick as the covers, I doubt the vacuum will create enough force to compress that but it's worth a shot. Have been pumping enough new plastic and glue solvents into the air that those 10 bin bags aren't going to make much of an environmental difference anyway.

Still keeping my fingers crossed everything will work out fine with the covers. Ideally we won't sew them back together like they were originally to be able to give the covers a gentle rinse now and then. But that's the textile department (gf)'s job, we might need to get the sewing machine out and that delicate work is beyond my capabilities. Give me power tools, nasty chemicals and muscle power kinda jobs.

I am also still in love with the boxy design knoll antimott series. But that was out of budget. Maybe for the guestroom as a daybed when we get a guestroom.
We have a mix of 60s stuff, Scandinavian and GDR, to 80s italian and West-German. Have been looking at getting the matching table to the couchset but its massive and too low. Had a Arne Wahl Iversen table but sold it because of the above reasons. And I like the mix, not a catalogue image from the Scandinavian design blogs. Next up is framing up images and hanging them on the wall and when that's finished we will in all likelyhood move so we have new room to furnish..;)

Also reminds me of the summer when I was 16 and worked at a cleaners because long hours good pay and where we were sent out to clean apartments from old people who had died. Had a special machine and cleaning agent to get the cms thick nicotine coating from the walls, it streamed down like deep frying oil.
So this wasn't that disgusting considering.

Looked into this a few months back when we moved... ended up getting a second hand Ligne Roset Multy. It's really comfortable as a sofa but comes into its own as a bed.

Also looked at the Muji T2 which is great but wasn't as comfortable as a sofa (didn't try it as a bed). Heal's Oswald sofabed also good for something more 'sofa' looking

I am looking for a bench with a high back. does anyone know of any nice ones ? this one from ikea looks OK if a little uncomfortable. I was thinking I could maybe pin/hang some material to the back to provide screening (a small custom shade sail?) from one side on my deck

There’s a Dutch company I was looking at for some garden furniture who do something like this but I remember the prices scared me...

How do people store shoes and trainers, 'loads' of them (50-60 pairs maybe?), in a non-horrific way? I don't want to display them and I don't want loads of under bed boxes. I'd prefer stand-alone units and there are some online but some look really cheap so I'm looking for personal recos.

Well yeah.. but I don't need a room to look like Flight Club. My shitty beat up trainers would look less impressive..

I would get something built - work out the dimensions of your sneakers and then how many and spec it up with a carpenter. Built in will be better use of space and look neater

Do the unrestored seats have some value? I get offered these and similar every now and again. Charities won’t take them, but it’d be nice to see them not go to the tip. They’re clearly well designed and have potential.

Google "grete jalk france and son" and find out.. Pamono prices are whack but take about halfish that for real world prices.
We bought them in Germany because we live in Berlin so closer to the Danish source but still are at about 2.400 euros now for the whole set including the delivery and renovation costs.
Ild say for a renovated set we'ld 've been looking at minimum 3.000 euros including delivery but hey, we also liked the idea of saving this set and hadn't come across a similar green one.
Actually finding a set is harder, they normally flog em per piece.

Idea dust wise but anyone attempted this? Feel It’s just for these kind of photos and I’d be dusting washing everything monthly

Personally I think they look good in staged photos but really not sure they’re in anyway practical (dust, uv, changeable temps, moths etc) and that in real life they’re likely to look a mess.

I do agree that it’s hard to find nice wardrobes - probably a custom build jobbie

I'm going to find a local carpenter, off the peg will be shit, good pint well made.

Also only works when you half fill it. When there's a teetering pile of hoodies and you're cramming in some sheets it doesn't quite look the same.
