I feel like I'm exposing myself terribly here but this was my first ever electric instrument and first bass which I completely forgot I had, I was looking for something in the attic yesterday and found it!
It started life as a Squier Affinity Precision in white (c.2001) before 12-13 year old me, in my infinite wisdom, decided to "mod" it as I hated the white finish and thought it would be so much better in this terrible shade of blue which I seemingly applied with a yard brush and attempted to finish with the same yard brush...
I even thought it would be a great idea to make it fretless which I hoped to achieve by filing the frets off and leaving the tangs in the fingerboard (it made sense at the time 😂) but swiftly gave up after starting into the first two frets...
Canny viewers will not the stickers were obviously added at a later date when I presumably got some free with a copy of Rock Sound and couldn't bear to see them go to waste 🤣
The upshot of this is that I now have another mod-mode project at no cost! I'll sort out the two botched frets (sidenote: I'm amazed by how low/small the original frets are, you can see the 3rd fret is unabused), refinish the headstock and get some upgraded tuners, pickups and bridge. I will probably replace the body as I have a lead on a very affordable pine body and I've always fancied a pine one and, irony if ironies, I'll probably paint it white again 😅
