I’ve just been looking for a friend with an even tighter budget. For fair weather cycling largely.
Vitus do a rim brake bike with Claris for £550 that’s probably actually fine. If they did one with 105 it’d be a winner. The next interesting thing was this with Spyre brakes, Sora (and maybe cartridge bearing wheels ... not sure).

You can probably get a decent rim brake bike for that money second hand, but prices of new bikes have skyrocketed and there's only disc brakes.
Maybe a CAAD with 105 or something like that, cheap but good enough for fast riding. -

That's decent for the money, not light but Sora is surprisingly smooth and Spyres aren't terrible for cable discs.

Hmmm. Buy an e-scooter, some SafeMoon and DogeCoin and sit out 2021, profit, then in 2022 hand over profit ... all of it ... for a 14kg Alvio bike with 60tpi tyres and a £9 rrp cassette, price £1999.

Ribble is the answer.
R872 with rim brakes is £1100. Disc brake Endurance is £1k.
I remember when you could get a PX pro carbon for £799.

Has anyone got any views on the dolan ares or rebus? Pretty much zero info or reviews out there at all, which is strange as you'd think the usual reviewers might want to review a british bike, anyway both look great, any thoughts?
£2899 for the rebus with record. Quite like the look of the tuono as well, 2600 with chorus or 3300 with record.
Yeah... have been finding that in my searches, everything on wiggle and decathlon is sold out
