Yeah - really looking forward to Combe! Paid my subs but no dates confirmed on the website as yet.

Is there a moving out thread? Not moving out of London but moving out out.

The eggs are great, but everyone else has chickens around you and sells the eggs for cheaps from little boxes at the end of their drives and this is the better solution.

Bantam cockerels suffer small man syndrome. My parents had a couple and they were vivacious bastards.

vivacious bastards
Wonderful typo 🐓

Pretty sure no cocks. But who knows! House isn’t super rural, just a weird/magic combo of in the middle but also on the edge of town. 10 min walk to stables and fields, ten min walk to cafes/butchers/bakeries. Busy postbox outside, so plenty of passing egg traffic 🤞. Chickens definitely committed to, I hope there’s a handover pack so we can at least know their names.

We had chickens as a kid. Also had a few dogs.
Then we didn't have chickens.

You want chickens.
They’re really quite personable. This seems to be progressing very well indeed.
May I interest sir in a sheep?

A sheep would help with keeping the grass down AND keep the child occupied, but the place isn’t large enough (and there are enough creatures to keep fed and happy as it is!). I imagine you’ve got a bigger garden and further reaching views in Putney. Maybe you should relocate a sheep...

Pretty sure that's Satan.
Maybe vegetarian Satan but a member of a Nordic Black Metal band for sure.

The bantams have gone between contents list and completion! They were bullying one of the marans (which had to be finished off) and have been given away. Means we’ve only got four chickens which feels considerably more manageable.
Picked up the keys (and three eggs) today. (Rosie’s hand not mine)

Ta. Back at in-laws tonight and then removals peeps tomorrow. On the drive home it took 30 seconds to get to the lanes. Revolutionary.

I sometimes thing what the hell have we done, why did we leave SE23. At other times I look at this and think why did we wait so long.

What the hell. Where did you move if you don’t mind me asking? That a stunningly clear sky there. Congrats.
I’m assuming long exposure? Correct me if I’m wrong.
I can see...1 constellation...I think? -

Just west of Aylesbury. Yes, 30s exposure in tonight’s bright moonlight. Cassiopeia and Perseus in there somewhere.
Good cycling, quiet, dark skies, fresh air, owls, deer, otters, beer, right wing people, manure... -

Gonna say, human eyes can only ever really see about 2500 stars in even the best (un-light-polluted) conditions.

That last comma in your description is superfluous.
Also, the night of the long exposures last night, was it? ;-) -

We need to get one of these before someone gets one for us. Are there any out there that aren’t awful rustic horrors?

Cant believe you are about to become one of those people who have “free range eggs” outside their front gate!
When o first came here I thought they were for FREE!
Talking of chicken I find watching this guy oddly satisfying:
