Lazy journalism all round on this one.
Tesla have confirmed a couple of things:
- autopilot was not enabled
- the car did not have FSD (the owner didn't purchase it)
Looking at the crash site, it would have been impossible to engage autopilot as it requires lane lines to activate and the road had none.
This is definitely a case of someone with no idea how to drive a fast car, stamping on the throttle.
