I'm loving the tour of the alps this week. Simon Yates was pretty impressive riding Nairoman and Hugh Carthy off his wheel in stage 2 - is he that good or are they just not going so well?

Thanks. I’ll bookmark that.
Was just wondering where Dan Martin is for a race like this. Just calling it boring on Twitter: https://twitter.com/danmartin86/status/1384869430216253443?s=21

Froome in the break at Tour of the Alps.
I’m fairly sure ISN didn’t sign him for that.

• #33086
No, but a breakaway win by Froome with be hugely newsworthy, and confidence building.
At his prime, Froome would never be allowed in a breakaway of course, as he would outclimb everyone, and TT his way to victory.
The breakaway seems doomed to fail though as too many people too close to the GC lead.

He may be wisely giving this a go before ES coverage starts. I’ll be impressed if he’s still there at 1pm.
What’s the gap?

ADSA: will the pelo let Froome have this out of respect?
-
• #33094
Doubtful, unless he drops the other breakaway guys at some point.
-
• #33095
Christ, no. It’s a race, not a benevolent ride.
-
• #33096
I’d imagine Froome would be incandescent if a stage win was gifted to him. He’d want to earn it.
-
• #33097
@pastry_bot dropped me on every climb yesterday. Out of respect I let him do that.

He also rode on the pavement, which should mean disqualification as per the UCI rules.
