  • Raaaaawk!

  • I'm not expert but have had a tank sitting idle waiting for me to build a driver around it and whenever I've looked into online discussions etc what many say is that the most important thing is not so much the circuit that drives it but how well matched to the tank itself it is, so I'd err on the side of caution and stick to whatever i/o impedance the current tank has

There are a few options but there seem to be a few 'standard' ones, which in the Accutronics world are marked by different letters in the name code.

  • Just picked this up for £50 on fb marketplace

  • Those are supposed to be great. I've always wanted to try one just based on the reviews.

Is that a fitted case for it too?

  • It is and they are £57 at Andertons on their own. I tried not to sound too keen or too disappointed when she did not have a guitar lead. By the time I’d got there she’d had seven enquiries so I was pleased I got a wiggle on to get over to her about 30 minutes away.
The area for the batteries looked unused.
I haven’t gotten lead but one is coming tomorrow so I’ll get to try it then.

  • I think you got a bargain! Enjoy, I'd like to know how it sounds?

  • Two question in one...

Any good guitar techs/luthiers in (north?) London for set up/minor repairs?

Aaaaan... anyone knows where I might be able to source a Fender 25.5" 56mm heel 12 string neck that won't be a custom job and cost loads? Dreaming of building up a 12 string Jazzmaster as I have a decent poplar body needing to be built up, I crave a 12 string and already own a Jazzmaster... 🤔

  • I haven’t seen any off-the-shelf 12-string necks, but I can recommend Warmoth. $209 + postage, VAT and customs duty, if you don’t mind finishing it yourself.

  • I'm not on Facebook but Murray's page is. Harlow, again, just up the m11. Not used personally but all my old band did and always heard good things about his work.

  • If anyone's flogging an EHX Memory Boy Deluxe or an EHX Freeze pedal, hit me up!!

  • A bit early to comment on the sound but there is a significant practical issue if (and I don’t) used for busking. I assume the amp is between the player and the audience. If this is the case then the twin speakers are tilted and directed nicely to said audience and the amp controls are nicely tilted back to the player. However, all the writing is upside down. Roland have simply got the panel designed the wrong way up for use. In the shop it will look great, you are standing looking at the grille/front of the amp as it sit on the shelf and when you peer over the top the writing it the right way round.
I know you’d get used to it quickly but still...

  • Got my Deluxe back from my guy tonight, crowned and dressed but, wow, barely any frets left AT ALL!! Still plays great but I reckon I'll need new frets veeeeery soooon... He had to change a dead pot and socket out too, oh well!

  • Not the same guy who messed up your Jr shirley?

  • Nooooo, never again... This guy is great, these frets were super borderline... Won't be able to dress and crown them again, definite refret next time but it's a much bigger job on a maple board so he eked these ones out as best he could...

PS Junior guy sent me an email a month back admitting he was totally wrong to mess with the Junior's bridge and he's gonna pay for a new one... Not sure what I'm gonna do with it as it won't fit anyway, will try it on one of the other guitars and see what gives...

  • Vibe for days...

  • Lovely thang that. Still loving the full stack as home practice amp thing as well.

So my road to vintage acoustic goodness without compromising my financial or mental wellbeing is to start a dedicated savings pot which is paid into primarily by musical earnings, sales of gear and possibly topped up when I can justify or afford it. It's going to be a bit of a slog but the first couple of hundred from Reverb sales have just gone in...

  • Oh and @>>>>>> why didn't I listen to you and flog the Guild as was?

I started sanding the back (which I thought was already stripped back to near bare wood). As soon as I started sanding two things happened:

1: I realised that my previous efforts at sanding hadn't in fact gone all the way though the finish and I probably could buff it back to gloss to match the sides.

2: The new electric detail sander I bought for the job, left a mess of deep gouges in the back and one spot of bare wood, which immediately made item 1. impossible to revert to. Fuck.

So no I'm committed. Which is a pain in the arse because the sander makes such a fucking racket I can't really do it for long. Even in the garden. I might set up a bench in the shed and head out there with a mask and some earplugs when the weather perks up. FFS.

  • Tread lightly on the sides with that sander! It'll have been a lot easier to control on the back and front than on the sides... I'd recommend getting some proper razor blades and having a go at scraping the finish off to see how it goes, I've been amazed at how efficient it's been while working on the Bronco neck!

  • Gonna do the sides by hand I reckon

  • Aw, man! 😢 I'm sure you'll do a great job and it'll be fine...

My GAS buyer finger is still hovering over a B7 and a Vibramate for the 335, should I? I do instinctively reach for a tremolo these days, been spending too much time with the Jag...

  • Do it! I love mine.

  • OK! Gonna start searching for a used one to save a quid or two...
