I think it was MKBHD who suggested that they could have just made it 10mm thicker and it would still have been ridiculously thin and been able to house the speakers and PCB behind the display.
I think it would look better without the chin. Also a bit disappointing that the 'front' colours are muted version of the rear. Personally, I'd only really see the nice bright orange when I took it out the box and then never again.

the chin has the 'computer' bits vs the last gen where they were behind the display
