  • The cost of maintenance will honestly be the same as the rise in value. This is one car not worth keeping unless you're not driving it.

  • I know there's probably plenty of owners with zero bad experiences, but I know of multiple owners who have had new engines, new gearboxes, new wiring looms, and even total loss due to fire.

E6x M5 is not a car I'd be buying unless I wasn't driving it or I had millionaire pockets.

  • It has a spoiler, get it.

  • That sounds perfect for @Dammit. A steady and long list is jobs to keep him busy.

  • For sale at €2,500 yes that is Euro

  • Just check out the immaculate engine bay

E6x M5 is not a car I'd be buying unless I wasn't driving it or I had millionaire pockets.

It'd be driven if it was mine, and having had a think about it I do suspect that it'd be a car shaped hole that I'd pour money into.

I've been trying to work out what part of my spine hurts in order to work out what changes to the position (or the physical makeup of the seat) need to happen to be able to drive the E63 for more than an hour.

I drove the 850R to Italy and back, the 911 to the Alps and back, the C55 to Switzerland and back - and felt fresh as a daisy. I can't drive the E63 to Winchester without wanting to sell it and get the train home.

  • Have you considered sitting training?

  • Think the time has come to sell my Clio 182. Not using it enough to justify keeping it. Before I advertise it elsewhere just wanted to check whether anyone here fancied it.

133k miles, well maintained, extensive maintenance/service records. It's mechanically sound and runs really nicely and I've not been shy with maintenance in the 2 yrs I've owned it. Cosmetically its alright but far from perfect. Give me a shout if interested, can give all the details - thinking around £2k.

  • Will get some proper pics up after a good wash but here are some quick ones whilst I was polishing up the headlights (now back to sparkling goodness).

  • Where are you based?

  • Surrey, near Godalming - GU8

  • Spend 30 minutes restoring those headlights it'll make it look so much better.

  • Cosmetically its alright but far from perfect

    any more detail on this?

  • Its already done, that was a 'during' shot at about 800 grit.

If anyone's interested to see more very happy to take some proper photos later today.

    • Front bumper is cracked on the bottom edge and a few small spots of flaking paint
    • Small ding (10p) in the driver's door from someone carelessly opening their door into it
    • Bonnet has a crusty leading edge on the underside and it's been (poorly) resprayed by hand
    • Missing one of the plastic wheel centres

I've lined up a better (colour correct) replacement for the bonnet if it puts people off and I can get a replacement wheel centre easily enough on ebay.

Headlights had yellowed but now rectified and looking like new.

  • I'm not in the market for your Clio, but would love to see before/after shots of the headlights, and a quick recap of your process...

  • There are some good guides on YouTube - check out Ammo NYC. I wet sanded with progressively finer paper from 240 -> 1500 before polishing with DA polisher. Useful to go North/south and then east/west each time you change grit so you can see you’ve effectively removed the previous grits sanding marks.

Don’t have a before and after I’m afraid but do have a during and after

  • Are you going to seal them with anything after?

Otherwise won't it just come back?

  • Will it come back? Eventually yes. A sealant/wax with UV protection helps and has meant I’ve only had to do this two years after I originally did it but with the factory protective layer gone it’s only a matter of time.

I’m mainly doing it as I’m prepping it to sell. They weren’t in a terrible state before.

Could go with some sort of clear coat I suppose but never really investigated it.

  • Nice one! There's not many 182's left in decent condition. Good work on the lights. A coat of UV stabilised 2k clear coat would keep the lights like new for 5-10 years.

  • Of course adds another few hours of work. Spray, sand, spray, polish.

  • that Clio really looks like a lot of fun. be great if someone on here grabs it. shame no way I can find a place for it right now.

  • Cool, I did my impreza ones with a Meguiars kit but it's barely lasted a year.

Maybe i'll try sanding and polishing them on it's own this time. the UV levels in NZ are insane so it ruins headlights in no time

  • Nice car! (I may be biased)
