sapphire and steel
the worst tv show ever ? discuss
Depends on how old you are.
As a kid it was far more scary than Dr Who could ever be. And Dad loved it because of Joanna Lumley.

I liked it. I was maybe 8/9 years old, so I liked almost everything, but it scared the crap out of me on a couple of occasions and was weird and a bit unsettling the rest of the time...

Yeah, I actually have it still on my Plex server. The 'Special Effects' are shit but it is of it's time.
The stories themselves were pretty good.

Wasn't impressed at all.
It wasn't quite the US/Lovecraft country ripoff the internet was predicting but having sat through the full 10 episodes I have to say the discussions online about it being 'black trauma' porn are pretty spot on. Any deep insight into the black experience during those times is overshadowed by the overt "look how racist everyone was" tone without trying to make any point/commentary about it.
there's seemingly 3 plot lines and none of them really make sense in isolation and when combined everything is just a mess. there might be some lazy metaphors hidden in there but as a story it's just a bunch of tropes cobbled together.
there's a scene halfway through the season (the c** ** * *** one) that is so gratuitously unnecessary I would have happily given up on the show there and then but out of curiosity I persevered to see if I was missing the big wrap up at the end. I really wasn't.

I'm liking it, I think it helped I listened to who I assume is Frank on the off the menu podcast and took a shine to him, but silly fun all the same.

Yeah - John Oliver.
Iād seen it in the depths of Reddit years ago but that brought it back to life. Terrifyingly bad.
