The Open Pavé is absolutely discontinued but WiggleCRC uncovered a load of old stock somewhere. They're just being cleared out.
While it was it's spiritual successor, I don't really think they're directly comparable tbh. The Open Pavé has almost the same tread thickness as an Open Corsa e.g. very thin. It's a race tyre with a nice grippy tread. The Control's is noticeably thicker than a both the Corsa 2.0 and the Open Pavé and it's also heavier.
With all of this said, the Control still has the structure and feeling of a race tyre versus something like a G One-Speed, any tyre with a wired bead, any 120 tpi tyre etc etc.

Wasn't the Pavé phased out and replaced by the Control? Only to reappear on Wiggle?
Either way it's interesting to hear that they have not necessarily improved upon it.
