  • I had this issue with Hope hubs too. Just pop off the end cap, fit the rotor then pop the end cap back in.

  • I’ve had the issue on my QR wheels the end caps wouldn’t fit through the lockring either so couldn’t be fitted after the rotor. I did as Upsidedown suggested and bought external splined ones

  • There 15/20mm is that ok, it’s making my head hurt thinking about it

  • Just pop off the end cap

Is there knack to that? It doesn’t feel like it wants to pop off!

  • First time its tight so use pliers and card over the end so you dont scratch then . A bit of grease after will help . Short tug.

  • Short tug

    Huh huh

  • Ok a big one right across the room.

  • As above. With Hope hubs you’ve got to remove the adapter. Pop the end of the axle in it and give it a gentle wiggle!

  • Ok I’ve solved the disc lock ring issue, thank you :)

Now what the fuck is wrong with this picture, I have the wrong mount ? Right ?

Nothing is ever easy is it. So what mount do I need for a 140 disc ?

  • It’s a flat mount fork and you have a post mount caliper.
    You’ll need an adapter

    Like:

  • Christ I’m a fucking moron, somehow I’ve been telling myself I had a flat mount caliper!!

My record for buy the wrong mount for a set of brakes is 3 I can see myself exceeding that this time.

  • Don't think the lockrings are for 12mm axle.

  • There fitted and there fine. Larger gap around the axle perhaps but I don’t think that’s a problem.

In other news, sod those ugly post to flat mounts, gone and bought some proper flat mount brakes.

  • I'm about to replace a broken GRX810 shifter. If anyone has worked on GRX, I'd really appreciate help with some of the complexities like:

    • Hose cutting: looking at the tech docs, they suggest I need to TL-BH62 tool to cut the hose and insert the connector. Is that really necessary? Can I use the standard hose cutter I already have from Epic?
    • Inserts: Is the insert I need a BH90 connector? Assume I can press it in using strong grip and a handy flat surface?
    • Bleeding: what bleed kit is required, will the TL-BT03s standard funnel + syringe kit do? There's mention of a 'funnel adapter' in the tech docs. I'm not clear on whether it comes in that kit or not or where to get it from?

Surely this shouldn't be this hard? Makes SRAM look easy.

  • You can cut the hose however you want. They just promote their own tool. However if you are just doing a straight lever swap then you don't need to cut the hose or bother with new barbs.

  • Cool, thanks. Makes life considerably easier.

  • Plug and play should be fine, funnel adapter is a little plastic tube which you will need to bleed, swing by your LBS with a pack of biscuits, they'll probably have loads of spares as they come with new bikes and brakes.

  • Has anyone got a set of Shimano brakes they are looking to shift? Its for a bike im building for my dad, something like M400 would be ideal

  • I’ve myself some direct mount disc brakes now, but are these junctions on the hydraulic hoses ?

  • Yes, I think it's called a connectamajig.

  • My hope is that its there to make shortening the hose easier.

  • Any suitable alternative to K03s Shimano pads? I seem to be wearing them out at time warping speed, so I was wondering if there is anything else out there.

  • Uber bike. Get sintered pads rather than resin, will last a lot longer.

  • From what I've read it's there so that shops and manufacturers can switch to/from Euro brake routing without any additional effort.
