From what I've read it's there so that shops and manufacturers can switch to/from Euro brake routing without any additional effort.

Usually the quickest way is to disconnect from the caliper and chop it but with that you won't have to remove the wheels or the brake pads to avoid contamination, so yeah it will make it easier, even though it's just designed for swapping brakes for British weirdos.
