Better brains; I'm tempted to run Ultegra R8000 shifters/long cage rear mech with Deore cassette for a 1 x setup using a Middleburn RO2 chainset. Is it wrong/will it work? Any opinions on a new Ro2 chainste/crankset also gratefully received. I'd run it with a 48 chainring, ideally a Specialities TA Syrius but thats not set.... Yours sincerely, etc etc

Might toothpaste and a rag be helpful in this case?
This also works well to remove stubborn magic-maker graffiti from timber

Whats the better option for rim tape this https://www.bike24.com/p229467.html?menu=1000,4,22,78 or this https://www.bike24.com/p2302556.html?menu=1000,4,22,78 or anything else?

no real difference performance-wise, depends what you like more, the ritchey rim tape could be reused on other rims, not sure if this is as easy with glued on rim tape. on the other hand 9m tape should be okay for about 8 rims, so a real bargain.

Thanks for your answer! just another thing if the rim is 18.5mm internal is it ok to have a 20mm tape?
-

Lots of AQA questions/answers about primer when rattlecanning - not so much on using high-build primer as a smoothing layer before paint. Any tips, suggestions, strongly-held-opinions? Going to be used on aluminium and carbon. TIA.

If I want to ride off into the sunset on a horse, how fast do I need to ride for that sunset to never end?
-
• #107712
Finally, someone asking the important questions on here.
-
• #107713
tldr it depends on..
tldr maybe too fast to enjoy it -

You'd be trying to outrun The Terminator (not that one). It varies with latitude and at the equator it moves at 463 m/s = 1035 mph.
This page has a formula:
463.8212 * cos(lat) = velocity in meters per second
For London's famous London that's 638 mph.

Trick question as you'd get stuck whenever you hit the coast.

Trick question as you'd run off the end of the flat Earth

I'm sure a horse that can run 638 mph on land can also do so on water.

Nobody fucks with the jesus horse.
-
• #107719
638mph horse sounds too fast to enjoy it. A normal horse, in the right direction could prolong the sunset by a bit.
-
• #107720
So the next question is, how much longer you could enjoy it on your normal speed horse compared to when you sit in your armchair
-
• #107721
I think this is more difficult than it appears.
I'm fairly sure you don't need to go faster than about 184 m/s or 665 km/h.
According to the formula above, that's the speed of the day/night terminator (i.e. sunset) on the Arctic or Antarctic Circles, which by definition are the furthest latitudes through which the terminator passes every day.[Edit: sunset is not instantaneous / the terminator isn't a sharp line, so you can probably trace a circle about 5 degrees inside your polar circle, and maybe go about 20% slower than that].
But is there a more optimal path..?

How tall is the horse?

Is it legal for an online seller to charge postage for refunds if the buyer has changed their mind (item not faulty)
-
• #107724
Yeah I think so. At least I've paid postage for non faulty returns a bunch of times and never questioned it. It's probably covered in the distance selling regulations or whatever they've been superseded with if they have been superseded.
