I love how honest and unpretentious that place is. One of those places where you can get chatting to anyone. Such a great vibe in there.

I think it's closing. I think.

What?!
Do you know why? End of the family line? I thought there were younger generation behind the bar. -

Looks like it did close and then opened again. Sadly I don't really keep up with the news and haven't been since last year, sorry not to see the familiar faces behind the bar but glad it seems to be holding on more or less the same. I'll have to go soon and see. I've been meaning to drop by Terry's as well, Austin's been very active on social media lately.

Can anyone recommend a decent pub where I can take someone for lunch and a pint (and a very dry pitch re content creation) this Friday please?
Ideally central and judging by the forecast, under some sort of cover. And preferably somewhere I can book.

Anyone recommend an early opening pub that serves real ale and breakfast somewhere central? Most of the Smithsfield Butcher style early starting pubs seem to still be not opening under covid measures obvs as most are indoor only.

Lots of the Wetherspoons are opening at 8am.

Good shout! St Pancras it will be!

The Betjeman at St Pancras opens pretty early too I think. Not sure exactly when. The seats in the station concourse also class as outside seats which is a bonus.

Tim Martin does, though, remain odious.
I think the shit he has talked over the past year has put me off ever returning to a Wetherspoons, even though I'd swallowed my concerns over the previous three or four years.

Lots of pubs that had car parks have put tables there. Not many in central London obv.

Any suggestions for pubs showing football outside? North/Central London. I can think of the Clissold Park Tavern but that's about it.

Nearby ‘Ryan’s N16’ on church street often has screens in the garden out the back.

Cheers, I forgot about them, sent an email. There's also the The Auld Shillelagh but that seems to be very booked.

If desperate, the redwood in London Bridge (tenuous meaning of central I realise...) have screens outdoors and a decent few tables. Ordering from your phone is quite easy too

Cheers, probably a bit too far but will bear it in mind.

The Abbey Tavern in Kentish Town has screens outside, caught a game there during the last lockdown.

Now that things are opening up, what are people's favourite pubs in south east London? I moved there during lockdown and haven't had a chance to try many out. Dog friendly if possible!

The Ivy House
The Herne Tavern (largely just for the garden)
Definitely the Blythe Hill Tavern as Oliver says
I like The Montpellier i Peckham, does really good food and has that great pub buzz on weekends.
Skeehans
Glad you liked it 😏
Used to absolutely love holing up in there, especially on a wintery evening. Feels like a real escape.
