• First time poster, so advance apologies for any lack of form.

Selling my beloved Peugeot road bike. 22.5" frame, 22" top tube.

Made c. 1989-90, Reynolds 753 frame & forks, so super light for the era. I've stripped the forks to reveal the chrome and its pretty good. It comes with full Shimano 600 'Tricolor' groupset, including hubs & headset. I've made a couple of recent changes, moving from downtube shifters to STIs, and ditching the original Shimano 600 brakes for slightly newer versions. I also upgraded the Laprade seatpost to a Shimano 600 one. Frame has some chips and scrapes but is really very good for its age. One thing to note - the stem is seized. I don't thing this is too bad, as I had it out only a few months ago, and someone with a bit more brute force should have no problem freeing it up.

    Frame 22.5"
    Top Tube 22"
    Reynolds 753
Brakes, front & rear derailluer, shifters, cranks, front and rear hubs, headset & seatpost - Shimano 600 'Tricolor'
    Cassette - Shimano 13-26
    Rims - Wolber Alpine T430
    Tyres - Schwalbe Durano Plus
    Saddle - Prologo Nago

The whole thing screams France - if Hinault had carried on for a few more years you could imagine him on this....

Needless to say, I've got through a fair few miles on this and it rides beautifully.

I would much prefer collection & either cash or paypal, and can courier as a last resort. Am based in Surrey but can meet in central London too. £300.

Loads of extra pics, pm if interested.

    Thanks
    Steve

  • Pm'd you

  • Hi! Did you measure the standover?

  • Hi, is 82cm.

  • Steve welcome to the forum :) nice looking machine and good price. Can I ask where you've measured the seat tube from? is it centre bb to centre of top tube or to top of seat tube? thanks Jon

  • Thanks Jon. Centre of crank to top of seat tube. I'm 5.9 (just about) and it a good fit, maybe a tiny tiny bit on the large size. Steve.

  • Thanks Steve realistically it'll be too big for me to but will help with the sale I'm sure. How come your selling it?

  • Thats a shame. Why do any of us sell? Because I have too many bikes / want a new one (actually both apply here!).... :)

  • I have sent the link to my brother he used to race on a Peugeot similar in the late 80's and nineties.

  • Now sold, thanks all

  • Mine, am thinking of doing an Anc replica.

  • That's a beaut

  • Need some pug forks as they are vitus. Thanks, you'll miss yours now!

  • I have a Perthus Pro in the same blue/white paint. It rides impeccably and the only issue I have had with it is that the right hand shifter boss dropped off. Not ideal but (as I have another 753 road bike) I'm now trying to decide if it's worth removing the other boss, respraying and keeping it as fixie.

  • Longgg shot, but wondered if this frame was 753, or 753r (race)?

    Thanks

  • It was 753. I do have a 753r pug that I'm thinking about selling though..... ;)

  • Ohh oh oh, what sir good sir?

  • And secondly, can I ask, this bike looks the spitting image of yours in the original post, do you think the 753r sticker is incorrect?

    Thanks!

  • do you think the 753r sticker is incorrect?

Unlikely. I've seen variants of the same colour in 531, 653 and 753

  • Yes I just saw the catalog with the models that cover 531, 653 and 753, but can't see 753r stated anywhere.

Also does have a frame in that white, red and blue scheme too.

  • Looks identical to the one I had. I'd heard that pugs made in France often view the 753r badge. I think it's legit. RX100 shifters though!
