  • Other projects take priority over trying to make this "fit"

    big mood right here

  • I suggest trying an inline post. The pomp has a seatube angle of 72 degrees or thereabouts. I run an inline on my pomp and a setback post on my other bikes.

Obviously ignore this if you've already accounted for the slack ST

  • Ill keep that in mind if I end up keeping / using it! Thanks

  • That looks like it's tied to that tree.

  • I've been looking to build a SS, flat bar, disc brake commuter/work bike for a while now. Seems I've just found the exact thread I need for inspiration...

  • buy a hybrid, better value, better designed for purpose.

  • Anything particular you'd recommend? Struggled to find much choice in terms of horiz rear dropouts.

  • I know someone who owns this, its a great bike

  • Probably gone now but just spotted this on stw,

    https://singletrackworld.com/classifieds/advert/on-one-pompino/

  • Does anyone know what the widest tyres one can fit on a Pomp V4? The rims are Archetypes, and quite fancy getting some Gravel King SKs, but not sure how wide I can get away with. Thanks.

  • I did 42mm knobbly tyres on my V4 (on Archetypes), tightest spot is the seatstay bridge.

  • Ye I had 42mm tyres on 19mm rims on mine.

  • I'm still amazed at how forward thinking the pompino is. Steel frame, cantis and drilled for v brake, comfy geo, mudguards mounts, mudguard eyelets and clearance for 42. Yeah it's track dropouts but still it was a stroke of genius.

edit: maybe not forward thinking, maybe just like 'hey people like to use bikes in multiple different ways and it's not that hard to have one bike do lots of stuff'

  • Ye I agree, strange they decided not to make another run of them.

I think the crazy prices on ebay show there is definitely demand for them.

  • Wow, seems I've been on this thread since the start.
Picked up another Pomp for a hack. Been waiting for years in Oz for one to pop up.
I'd like a better wheel-set, but I can't remember all the shenanigans with setting up 130 OLD.
    Any tips, links?

  • After a couple of road bike commutes rammed home how, erm, steady the pompino rolls for the same effort I'm wondering about eeeeing it up as an option for a bit of lazy zip across town.

Has anyone here done this with a pomp?

  • The right tyres, gearing and bars would do it I reckon? It does kinda feel intrinsically laid back though. If you want a cheap carbon fork let me know!

  • This from @pish is pretty aggressive

  • I need to keep it in 'cargo' mode for shopping & allotment so racing it up isn't an option. I'm coming around to the idea of managing my energy spend better i.e. push button assist on commute means less tired so quality time on feet/bike when I do those sessions.

I guess I should start saving for a Tern GSD...

  • eeeeing it up

    Gotcha now, missed that completely

  • Thanks (and thanks to oheyitsdrew), and that looks great.

  • I've a question chaps - I bought my pompino used last year, and the steerer had been cut too short to be ideal. I've been looking out for a used Pomp fork but come up short. Has anyone replaced their fork, and what to if so? Mudguard mounts would be a winner ideally.

    Thanks very much.
