• @Simba please, this weighed on my mind the whole night.

new bolt, new day, no slippage? no snaps??

got some HITEN ones in the post after some research by mv, will replace it when they arrive

took a spin around bridal paths, not too far, mixed surface, a vertical slice of what to expect from a multi day ride really. remember those??? was nice off road, nice on road, few odd looks from the Saturday chain gangs but good fun. ideal conditions for this bike really, dusty and unloaded.

i might look at getting a wider saddle for this due to the upright position, but in all honesty i'm so bored of looking at/ buying bike bits it's likely i'll just live with it and try to remember to put bibs on.

had a nice sweet potato for a mid ride snack, unconventional but quite good, paired with some salted crisps it did the job.

    more mechanicals:

i noticed a rubbing mid way through the ride, i spent a good time redoing the brakes on the side of the road only to find it was the bottom wish bone bolt had found its way undone? i felt like a right idiot, both for not spotting it and for having so many bolts on my bike.

secondly i had a light tick in the higher gears which i thought was the chain/ dirt, turned out my crank bolt was not torqued as much as it could, no play, just a tick. fingers crossed they're fine and i've not fucked the taper. i'm hardly a sprinter.

  • I know, sorry, mine too. You could cut a groove in the end so if (not when) it happens again, you can remove it with a flathead screwdriver.

That third picture is really good. I would share that on social media if I used it.
