  • I'm thinking I wouldn't need it if I was better at music theory and a bit less lazy but it's useful to me on quite a few levels. I'm looking at the Squarp next.

The NDLR seems to compliment the OT in my rig.

  • Have you seen the Barker stuff where he’s using the OT with sample chains of a load of chord inversions and sequencing them semi-randomly? Technically not difficult but a clever idea:

    He explains the technique here:

  • Until the 7 minute mark when they showed the percussion I was unimpressed but now I want one of those!

I've ordered teh NDLR. First machine for ages, now I have to avoid falling off the wagon and ending up with a massive steel plate in my basement.

Without having used it yet it's the totally key synced approach that's going to work for me.

  • Ha, solenoid percussion is fun!

Enjoy the NDLR, really interested to see/hear how you find it.

  • .

  • I'm excited to see too. I've been using the mixed in key plugins since they first appeared and Cthulu but NDLR looks a lot more straightforward.

I've been writing some Techno in Ableton over the last couple of weeks and that has no progressive or melodic qualities so maybe the NDLR is a reaction to that!

  • Hey bleakrefs any chance you still have the SE2200A?

I do! I'm doing an audio run this weekend also. I'll PM you!

  • Here's my most recent effort :- Will probably be very unproductive when the new toy arrives :-

  • Nice, I love a good loon sample.

  • One of my favourite sounds too.

  • Volca Modular and SH jam. Techno and that

  • Very nice! Sounds authentic to the max

  • I am trying to strip it back to the elements. For the last 6 months I've been mixing 15-20 minutes of Techno every night and running to it the next morning.

Liking your jam too. I found the metallic percussive sound really stoped me getting into though. A version without that in the mix and I'd buy it on vinyl.

Maybe we should do a thread 12"

  • Maybe we should do a thread 12"

    Definitely up for that

  • Count me in.

  • 4 Track EP would be good economics.

    Anyone else interested?

Apparently the distributor I'm buying from can arrange these kinds of things. Juno does it as well.

I have heard that it's near impossible to get anything pressed at the moment. I've had messages passed on from some big name dance artists whose releases are months late because every aspect of manufacture is delayed.

I'd be very happy to organise something though. I guess we should start a label too.

  • As long as we can agree on typefaces :)

  • The NDLR is a proper headspinner.

The hardware is solid and nice to operate and the operational logic is pleasing although it's not intuitive for me. Once I had the labels and shift/menu keys worked out it's been great. Just got to the modulation and songwriting level. It can take me a long time to learn that on these boxes.

It could benefit from a bigger screen but the screen is nicer to use than the OT.

Had a lot going on this weekend but I might have an example soon. It's a keeper for me but it might be expensive if you are still spending money on synths.

  • I found the metallic percussive sound really stoped me getting into though

Yeah that was a mistake, I loaded the wrong sample on the Blackbox. I decided to go for a take whilst I was warmed up though. Was too loud in the mix too

  • I've mostly been working on my electro project recently but I'm def up for doing a house/techno track to fit a split EP.

  • Ha - happy to do the artwork. Equally happy not to. :)

  • I expect it's the cost of 4 colour printing that would be painful. I would really want a great sleeve though.

  • The rest of it was great. I look forward to the next one.
