Can I ask what mudguards you've used on this? I've got the exact same hardrock and am in the process of turning it into a full on commuter/utility bike. Looks lush!

1991 Specialized Hardrock (18") - £100
An absolute tank of a old school bike in luminous metallic pink. Heavy cromo frameset but surprisingly comfortable - I've done loaded 40 milers on this with no issues. Original groupset that still shifts amazingly well, with a couple of small issues that need fixing. 1" threaded stem - I'm using an apdaptor in the pictures. Fully dismantled, cleaned and greased on purchase and recently recabled the brakes and replaced the straddles with new Decathlon (Avid) straddles. Plenty of locking marks and cable rub.
Issues; the RHS shifter does not spring back, and you have to pull it back manually after shifting. After getting used to it I wasn't bothered at all by it. The RHS shift gear cable entry is coming/has come off and being held in place by the gear cable, shifting unaffected. The front cantis are on in need of setting up properly. When I investigated recently one of the internal returning spring cases was worn - they might need replacing. Original front wheel bearings are in need of serious overhaul but not necessary unless you want matchy-matchy. DMR pedals are functional but a bit noisy.
