Don’t mean to piss in your porridge, but any reason you didn’t get a narrow-wide ring?

One said the name of my crank next to it and I think I would have had an emotional break down if i took a gamble on the one which didn’t fit
At worst I get a chain guide , the rear mech has a clutch, should be fine? Who knows, did we ride bikes before 1x?
I cannot stress enough, I have absalutely no idea what is happening when it comes to bikes, I see bit with matching name, I click buy, 50/50 if it works or not
@velosaurus was very nice this afternoon, ace shed and introduced to me to spotting kites, also switched the rings.
I’m currently losing my mind over this rd
It’s so noisy
But in the park tool video it’s so quiet???
Honestly, surreal
Might just ride it???!

Have you got the chain the wrong side of the tab between the jockey wheels in the derailleur?

I reckon. The teeth look tall.
The build looks really nice and cabling ... doesn’t look shit to me (notanexpert).
If you can’t get clean shifting even when setup maybe align the hanger? It’s easy but you’ll need a tool.

See if the noise is coming from the chain engaging with the teeth (both chain-ring and the lower jockey wheel). You might have the chain-line out a bit or the chain a few links too short.
Good luck!
BTW, your bike shares a color scheme with this super hero. Gravel x Bibleman?

I got bored fiddling with it, I don’t think it’s anything I’m missing other than just never having set one up before
There is no skipping, it shifts into every gear very well, it doesn’t have slack on the last gear for it to go in the wheel
I think the it just needs better alignment, might also be the chain line is a bit shit?
To motivate me to do this I put pedals on it and took it out for its first spin round the block, it’s great fun,

Looks quite snappy

The chain has been fed through the wrong side of the mech cage plate.
You’ll have to break it and re-feed so it sits the other side, as per the red line here:

Crazy build and fun! Put it in the dinner plate and in front of a white wall or something, the blue bin isn't helping the vibes of what is a wild and crazy bike.

^^Easy mistake to make, just be glad you noticed before wearing right through the metal. Chainline will be fine, it's geared innit.

Easy with a quicklink, or without you can remove a jockey wheel and get it in the right place.

Yooooo I get you now
I have now changed this, I’m finding the rd is knocking the chainstay? In the lowest gears it seems to Be tucked?
This has happened after I’ve taken it out the stand?

Play with the B-screw.
Also chain may be too long; how did you measure?
-
• #565
I did small to small, taking up slack in the chain till it tugged on the rear mech, maybe not enough tug?
-
• #566
Yeah I had this previously when my chain was too long! Suggest you check that.
Bike looks brilliant fun and unique though.

Do the chain as short as you can, so round the big cog to the point you can join it not through the derailleur, then add 1 pair of links, as per Shimano's instructions, then use the b screw to get it as close to the cassette as possible in the biggest cog but without it fouling when changing between second and first gear.

For 1x, chainring to biggest cog plus 2x whole links (4x plates) has always worked for me.
The normal 2x/3x ‘+1 whole link’ method results in a very tight and noisy chain on the 42T cog.
Can’t wait to see this thing covered in muck!

Yep this.

Or just keep removing an inner and outer link until the RD doesn't touch the chain stay anymore. Removing one inner and outer link is probably enough.
-
• #572
Before shortening the chain, I believe the hanger link-plate that connects the RD pivot to the frame mech hanger should be facing backwards, rather than down, at least so it is on all my bikes.
See precision diagram below:

This, and B-Screw, pls.

Good spot!
The locating tab on the mech should be touching the ‘hook’ on the hanger.
