The other option is to have a hard-wired smoke alarm in each room, although this is obviously a lot of effort if you don't actually like the original doors.

We got away with radio linked smoke alarms in all habitable rooms. Loads of PP3 batteries.

We're also in the process of getting our loft done and I was told today that building control are now tightening down on the implementation of the regs. So whereas you used to be able to get away with keeping your old doors and having linked alarms in all rooms now they are insisting on replacing all internal doors.

I posted in here a while back about my internal doors which I don’t like and getting them painted.
I have failed to act thus far, but am in the process of getting loft quotes and understand that they all need replacing (or treating) due to fire regulations.
Has anyone seen/got any nice compliant doors that I can consider?
