Anyone have any experience with 1 1/4” threaded steerers? Think I’d like to have the option to stick an adaptor in to use a 1 1/8 threadless stem. Can’t seem to find anything suitable online though.

Rad. Would be nice a touch shorter in the seat tube but very very cool

Yes, my Rudy has a 1-1/4” steerer. Your only option for an a-head adaptor is the Nitto MT Column. It’s the only adaptor you can get which is 1-1/8” top and bottom. They’re expensive and can be difficult to find.
I couldn’t find one at the time but I got lucky and was able to make my own adaptor. The stem I had was fabricated from alloy tube rather than cast, and the top cap was removable. I bought a short length of 1-1/8” alloy tube the same wall thickness as the stem and had the end machined to match the wedge. Then used the top cap, bolt and wedge off the stem to make up my adaptor.

Oh nice, that looks like a very tidy job! I was thinking of doing this with a bit of spare 1 1/8 steerer tube. Good to see you’ve done it and it works.
I’ve got a spare 1 1/4 quill that I can borrow the wedge and bolt from too :)
How important is it to get the wedge and angle of the cut on the tube exactly the same I wonder? Was hoping to freehand it but was worried the whole idea was sketchy asf and didn't really want to experience the stem failing on a tandem ..

If you need the end of the tube machined I can do that for you on a milling machine with a tube block.

Thanks, have fired over a dm :)

is this a UA thing?
-
• #128565
No, it’s for a tandem
Bought off here a couple of weeks ago.
No quill stem or 1 1/4” madness on a UA! :)

You could also extend the fork steerer and use an OD stem with a threadless headset?
-
• #128567
^ Yeah I'd just get a longer fork or extended steerer and run it ahead with a Canyon stem or something

New commuter build started at the weekend (old Airborne Carpe Diem frame I got resprayed and some Surly Straggler forks)
What's the go-to polished silver rear rack? My trusty tortec expedition is matt silver.

A polishing kit is probably the best way to get what you want.

Nitto, custom, Surly or you could get your current one nickel plated.
There’s probably more options-oh Wald for cheap thrills. -

Gotten some rides in on my Stribe Juno and the stoke is high (I'm biased obviously). Can't wait for the snow to dry up on the woods surrounding Oslo.

Say what you like about me. I don't care. Your opinion of me means absolutely nothing to me.
Anyone running 70-75 PSI in a 30mm tyre needs their head read. It's a ridiculous pressure for that tyre size.
That said, don't let me stop you from any continued communal back slapping and CJ activities.

Cheers mate! £1750. We got a bit long leadtimes like the rest of the industry, but it is possible to reserve a frame from the batch that is on order. Expected delivery is September/October.
