  • :) need to get out an ride this with you on a day when I’m not on deliveries

  • Yes definitely, sir. Need to get the Giants out before I take mine apart!

  • Anyone tried Halo Twin rail IIs? first gen ones were so slow I thought

  • Front mech is 500 lx for now as my XT seems to be top pull. Most other parts XT 732 (headset, BB, cranks, rear derailleur, hubs, cassette) Brakes and brakelevers are Ritchey Logic. And the gripshift SRT500 ofcourse. They work as they should but I remember from back in the early nineties these are shitty when it gets rainy. They say "grip" but when wet one has no grip on them at all.

  • Thanks!

Same story here. I need decent 26" tires for road use (building a 26" tourer) but can't find any.

  • Looks legit. Hard to argue with the price of the Billy Bonkers though, sub £20!

  • The Billy’s seem pretty good so far. Might be worth a look.

  • What width do you want?

    Schwalbe Kojaks?

    Big Ben / Apples?

Panaracer do a few slick tyres in 26” too.

  • I’ve got them but not got anything to compare to. I think they roll pretty well for quite deep tread with the central rail. They’re dirt jump tyres so good for hard pack. Look really good IMO

  • I'm looking for something between 1.75 and 2.0 width for a tourer bike. Something with a bit of "negative" tread like Road Cruiser.

  • Are the road cruisers what you want but out of stock? I've got a barely used set (<15 miles) if you want them - you'd need to send me some replacements though as they're on the latest build at the moment! Would consider a trade for something fatter and all black.

Speaking of trades... anyone want to swap a black selle italia turbo in good condition for a different saddle, maybe something wider? Learnt they're not for me.

  • Having just spent ages trying to fit some cantis that are really quite hard to fit, I'm looking at your Maguras and wondering how the hell I didn't see that sale / get some new ones.

  • Posting this in order to fully embarrass myself, pull my finger out and get it finished...

  • Nice :)

  • Stunning Hei Hei, please fulfil your prophecy.

  • Holy, that's a cracking Kona...

  • Will check if I have some all blacks in good condition.

  • Anyone know whether a 1991 Dawes Reynolds 500 MTB seatpost is more likely to be 26.0 or 26.2.

    Cheers.

(current seatpost says 26.2 on it, but calipers put the seat tube at closer to 26.0)

  • If the current one fits, that size it is. Seat tube needs to be reamed first before you can measure it in a decent way.

  • Cheers.

I found an old catalogue which shows it should have had a QR lever. It seems to hold, but obvs a bit worried its been over tightened.

  • Got an old kona for sale. Probably going to sell a few more 90s mountain bikes too soon to clear some space.

  • Extremely easy to fit and adjust - would recommend. I saw some steezy bright yellow ones go fairly cheap on eBay recently.

  • New project, 1992 gt tequesta. My first proper mountain bike was a 93 gt borrego, so was looking for something from that era with the splatter paint. This one started life at Martyn Ashfield cycles in Wales, spent some time in Switzerland as witnessed by a service sticker on the frame, and is now with me in the midlands. Mother of all jobs to get the fairly stuck bottom bracket out but all good now. Going for some wide billy bonkers tyres, possibly on the original araya rims, but not yet decided how to build it up drivetrain wise.
