@cozey posted this in eBay finds - whoever bought the Cadbury’s fingers bike needs to own this too!

Wow, very nice. I just listed a LOOK Mi80R in classifieds: https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/362399/#comment15931240

Nothing even remotely as sexy as the LOOK, but I'm hopefully going to be picking up a early 90s Dawes MTB in the next few days.
Thought I'd subscribe as I'll no doubt be asking questions.
Going to be doing dad duties rather than anything rad. Given it's pretty low end it'll be a budget build. Although I'm already eyeing up Thorn folks and costing up a wheelbuld with Halo White Line rims.

I put a selfmade fork and bars on an old trek frame and am waiting for a coaster rear wheel. Ended up like that:

Very cool. Following Stridsland?

• #2960
Yeah! The funky anodized bits around the cranks are from his shop.

Is that bike stable enough to ride with (cfr. the strange fork rake)?
-
• #2962
Rake is 45mm so not totally off i would say. It feels alright with 860mm bars at least.

Cool & juicy

I bought this on impulse a while back - it clearly didn't fit me.
Undeterred, I found a ridiculous (and cheap) stem and dug out the mile long Thomson layback from the parts bin - safe to say, it looks a bit shit but it kind of fits.
Just popped on some Magura brakes I picked up from @Dexter - need to get the hoses swapped (currently back right front left setup) and shortened but very impressed with the power and feel.

very very nice build! Is it full M732? How do you find the gripshift? Haven't owned a set of those since like 96

Man but 26” tyres are hard to find right now. Is it too much to ask for something 2.0”-2.2, in a road/hard pack tread, why are they no 26” “gravel” tyres that aren’t RH....
the immortal Speed King 2 is so hard to find these days, and everything else is way too thin to be fun.Had a brief moment when I considered RH Rat Trap Pass but then thought better of it. Thankfully found some Billy Bonkers thanks to @bonor. 10/10 much recommended

Some Table Tops in Bristol FB marketplace at the moment - was tempted but don’t think they’re right for my needs.

Also, this bike never fails to make me smile!
(And not just because it usually means you’re outside my house about to give me coffee)
Might be one of the models with a press fit bb, see @doug1e has linked the old shovel video, he did a pretty nice resto on one recently!
