Big up for Kingston Wheelers and their Gently Bentley 200km yesterday, several Brixton Cycles Club members took part, the first ever/first finished audax for a number of them too. Well organised and a fantastic route. Looking forward to the Amesbury Amble in May.

Nice. Have entered LLEL and Dauntsey Dawdle. Looking forward to both!

See you on LLEL, debating switching up from a 32t to a 34 or bigger...

Going over Dartmoor twice in one ride. What a treat!

My club is looking to order high-viz vesta that are PBP compliant
The issue for compliance of the vest is with the EN 1150 or EN ISO 20471 hi-viz standards.
I like the look of the ones posted by @Kurai, which have the reflective panelling low down on the rear, unlike the non-compliant Rapha ones which point uselessly to the sky.

LLEL looks a great route.
There's a 24h milk vending machine, with cheese, next to the road at Longdown, Exeter. If that's your kind of thing, it saved me on the night section of a 600 last year. -

here's the vital stats from the draft route last year, before it was cancelled.
I can see me sleeping very soundly in Exeter Travellodge.

Those stats don't reveal that 60% of that 5300m comes after the 250km mark.

Also - going down hills at the same speed we went up them
Big learning from riding in North York Moors, your average speed takes a huge hit as all the descents are too technical to descend quickly.
-
• #10614
I can't think of too many technical descents on the Devon/ Northbound Cornwall section.
I mean, in Devon, there are a couple of corners where I get a bit sweaty palmed at 50kph, but then I'm an anxious descender anyway.

24h milk vending machine
That's rad. I'm always on the lookout for the weirdest vending machines. :)

you must have seen some beauties on TCR (s) ?
-
• #10617
It is pretty cool, especially when the cows are in the fields next to it. Also, they have the option to add various flavours during the daytime, probably limited as the syrups sell out.

Not a vending machine per se but this sticks in my mind having ridden past it on two TCRs

I can't be arsed looking through 4 years of pics but here's another cool one:

It's complicated, as even the official PBP gilets aren't fully compliant with the hi-viz standards, application of this is pretty Gallic. My aborted solution to this for TCR07 was to take a good fitting gilet and stitch 50mm wide reflective tape onto it, before giving up & just taking the PBP one.

Aside from all the other reasons, one of the main things I'd love about doing long rides in Japan would be the vending machine pickings.
Well that and the fact that their convenience stores have stuff that looks a class above your average Spar.
-
• #10622
Oh yeah, I have a load of pics of Japanese vending machines (and toilets).
The porno video machine in the middle of a field outside of Himeji is also one that sticks vividly in my mind.

My favorites are the mystery gacha that you find sometimes , where your put in 200yen and get "something in return" normally a bizarre anime figurine.
Im riding a 300 from Tokyo this weekend so I will see if i can find some weird ones in rural Gunma.
-
• #10624
I've never saw those ones. Maybe a new addition since I was there :)
Have fun.
Been toying with the idea of riding a longer one but too much other stuff going on to plan it out.

Ride the world’s largest iceberg route.
Yes I think we’re looking to find something slightly more performance oriented.
I heard the rapha gilet didn't cut it in terms of safety standards.
