  • Anyone have any experience with 1 1/4” threaded steerers? Think I’d like to have the option to stick an adaptor in to use a 1 1/8 threadless stem. Can’t seem to find anything suitable online though.

  • Yes, my Rudy has a 1-1/4” steerer. Your only option for an a-head adaptor is the Nitto MT Column. It’s the only adaptor you can get which is 1-1/8” top and bottom. They’re expensive and can be difficult to find.

I couldn’t find one at the time but I got lucky and was able to make my own adaptor. The stem I had was fabricated from alloy tube rather than cast, and the top cap was removable. I bought a short length of 1-1/8” alloy tube the same wall thickness as the stem and had the end machined to match the wedge. Then used the top cap, bolt and wedge off the stem to make up my adaptor.
