On the recent theme of police escapades, there is an interesting story in the last of the comments of this article about the carvings: https://blackcablondon.net/2015/02/26/cabbies-curios-the-policemens-wall/. More policemen added their initials and numbers to the wall in the 70s during a 9 day siege of a flat on mydletton passage, where Stuart Brickell had barricaded himself in with a machete and gas bombs to resist eviction
