  • Tado is great, when it works, and I'm still a fan. The hardest part of installing was working our which if the adaptors I needed to fit the TRVs. But when I found the online compatability guide it was plain sailing. A little fiddly, as mine seemed to need the most awkward ones. There are some which are not compatible, so if you can find it, check before hand or you'll need to replace your TRVs (or have them fitted if you don't have any) first.

I like that they are constantly adding new features. The ability to turn everything off with one tap, or boost everything, is handy. Just waiting for them to add the boost feature to single rooms now.

  • when it works

I have read some mixed reviews, which is why I want to start off small and go from there!

I've already found detailed instructions on how to connect it to our model of boiler which is good as that should mean I can install it myself and save some cash.

Is the free model good enough or am I going to want to pony up the £25 a year? I don't like tech subscriptions really but it's not a lot of money really is it...

I went for the free trial and am now paying for it. I am on the fence as I'm not sure how much I need the open window detection/auto shut off (or how accurate it is) so I'd say I'm still trying it out and haven't made up my mind. But I've paid for it now so will have it for the year. I'd certainly say you don't NEED it.
