It's a podium, obvs. Doesn't everyone have one in their guest bedroom? How do you otherwise recognise the winner?

And are these doors or open cupboards?

A lot of it looks like the interior of the Nostromo.
I was expecting a face-hugger in a display tank as I clicked through.

Podium with trophy storage behind.
Or doors the podium people come out of. Little podium people.

We had a 4m wall taken down, steel beam in, one door bricked up and the other with a new lintel put in then false ceiling put up in a room 8x4m (plus 2 fireplaces removed) done in November. It was 5700£ in Edinburgh. With plastering and some rejigging around windows it was 8200£. The finish was not perfect, there were minor bits of fresh plaster with some scrapes which needed filling but other than that it was very good.
When he came for the quote he measured everything, asked questions, made notes (basically a professional) rather than the others which basically glanced at it and left.
If you're in Edinburgh and get someone called Ryan at building control, cancel and start again. He was fucking useless and became my nemesis for 6 months

This house used to be a Co-op 😂 they've given the info like it's a selling point. I get cold feet looking at that place, it looks like a morgue.

Think I'm about to push the button on a Tado setup which was inevitable given we now have a five bedroom house - Nest y u no TRV/UK temperature sensors (shakes fist) - but I'm a bit confused about what I actually need...
Currently have a combi boiler with a (crap) basic wireless thermostat and 10 radiators, but I'm fairly sure I'm going to add a hot water tank because I'm planning on getting a bath.
I want to try Tado out first with a limited setup, so I think what I need is the kit below plus a TRV or two, because I need a wireless receiver as our thermostat isn't wired, and this will let me control our hot water tank in future?

five bedroom
Wtf you going to do with all those rooms?! Multiple home office, bikes and guests?

It's London, at least two of those rooms will be too small for anything serious.

Yes, that's what you need + a bunch of the TRVs. If a room has more than one radiator in it, the wireless temperature control add-on can be used to master them.

We have 5 bedrooms, in London.
- Ours
- mini_com's
- My office
- ms_com's office
- Spare room/storage.
And still have a living room and separate dining room. It is in Thornton Heath though, and in a state so cost much less than about 90% of the stuff being posted here.
As @Howard says, my office is too small to do anything other than be a home office. I have my desk, a shelf/drawer unit, 1 bike and it's already getting to the point where you need to plan how to open the door. You could probably get a single bed in here, but it would be a grim bedroom.
ms_com's office is in the eaves room of the loft conversion, so I would only be able to use about 20% of it (I'm 6'2"), so it made sense for her to "have" it for her work and crafts and shit. I'll get a shed at some point. Eyeing up a 16' x 8' Beast job thanks to @Señor_Bear triggering my shed envy.

Well one is going to be a bathroom, one a snug, one a study/exercise room, one a guest bedroom, one is ours... all used up!
It's a four bed with no bathroom really. Or, there was a downstairs bathroom, but I've kinda already demolished it :)
None of our 'five' bedrooms are tiny, but they're not big either, except for the first floor master bedroom which is going to be our snug (living room for watching the projector/being cosy in as opposed to living room for guests, bit like the Victorians did with their front parlours).

Tado is great, when it works, and I'm still a fan. The hardest part of installing was working our which if the adaptors I needed to fit the TRVs. But when I found the online compatability guide it was plain sailing. A little fiddly, as mine seemed to need the most awkward ones. There are some which are not compatible, so if you can find it, check before hand or you'll need to replace your TRVs (or have them fitted if you don't have any) first.
I like that they are constantly adding new features. The ability to turn everything off with one tap, or boost everything, is handy. Just waiting for them to add the boost feature to single rooms now.

Thanks. Luckily only the living room has more than one radiator so that's where I'll put the wireless thermostat (and no TRVs).

when it works
I have read some mixed reviews, which is why I want to start off small and go from there!
I've already found detailed instructions on how to connect it to our model of boiler which is good as that should mean I can install it myself and save some cash.
Is the free model good enough or am I going to want to pony up the £25 a year? I don't like tech subscriptions really but it's not a lot of money really is it...
All very Patrick Bateman
