I went to get knives.
Having my tyre pressures questioned is a step too far :D

How wide do these 30mm and 33.3mm tyres come up for you?
I’ve just fitted a 30mm Mile Muncher to a Rigida DP18 (13mm internal) and it measures just 26mm fully inflated, same as a ‘25C’ Conti Grand Prix on the same rim...

I think the ‘30mm’ ones measure ~27mm new on 13mm internal rims. They’ll stretch a bit probably, other Panaracers-made tyres are similar.
On 17mm internal rims they measure 30mm.
The 33mm tyres actually measure all of that, even on 13mm internal rims. They’re thin/soft and probably have more stretch I guess.

Thanks, good to know I’ve not got a duff set.
Any tips for supple 700C tyres that actually measure ~28-30mm on 13mm internal rims?
Trying to max out volume on a Vitus 979 frame being reinvigorated as a beater.

I bought some 25.5c mile munchers and stuck them on rigida dp18 rims too and they come up approx 23.5mm.
Not what I was after.

I thought this was just surface rust originally when I bought the bike on here. But it's a crack right through the chainstay. It's about 10mm long.
It's where the tyre on the old build must have rubbed enough to remove paint and expose the steel.
Anyone here know if this is repairable? I've never really seen spot repairs on tubes so I suppose it would need a new chainstay. Is that likely to be £££?
Edit: Looks like Winston Vaz charges £100 to fit a 631 chainstay. Not horrific, but not peanuts either.Crazy off-piste idea: I could strip paint, lightly sand that section of chainstay and then wrap with a ribbon of carbon weave soaked in epoxy. I've repaired carbon frames that way. Is that a stupid idea on steel?
It's a 653 frame that fits me so I'd like to keep it if possible. Otherwise the hunt begins again.

Not having much luck finding a shim that has a 26.0 id- 28.6 od (1.3mm wall thickness?) should I make my own? Is there a smart / hack way to do this?

25.4 to 28.0 will work, the slot will open up by about 2mm but that's acceptable. SJSC have them in stock https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/seat-posts/262-humpert-seat-post-shim-254mm-id/

Picked up that caad track earlier. Chucked on the other wheels and flat bars for fun. I’ll probably swap the omnium for pistard air that I’ve got in a box.
I think I’m going to hunt out a 1 1/4” flat mount fork and run a cable disc on the front for road duties but I’ve got brklss installed for Sainsbury’s runs.

This re-entered my life over the weekend. To my shame it's been hanging up in my parents garage since the 2017 Red Bull Time Laps (3rd mixed team!), ridden hard and put away wet. Astonishingly for Campag, the gears still seem to work and nothing is too crunchy, but it does need a good clean. Not sure if the position or the gearing will prove hardest but it still feels fabulous from just a quick blast around the block.

I've only ridden it home in it's original build so far.
I might throw some drops back on and do thursday AM laps with fellow forumers. You should join.
Pretty chuffed with it though. Got a lot of fiddling to do with it until I feel like it's sorted. Currently it's just a novelty rather than a useful build -
