Ok, total cases. So, of course it's rising. But look at the 'new cases' graph.

SRMR sent an email yesterday saying they're making the final decision in July and that at least for now we can assume that it will happen. Rider list was announced, about 250 names.
Haven't done much to get ready for the trip as it feels so distant, though I have the gear and there hasn't been anything keeping me from riding yet. Should get doctors note, maybe some of the basic vaccines travellers take, though I already have some of them, book tickets and so on.

From my end I am trying to speak to Andi re Iberica Traversa. Its now only 3 weeks away
Are you in the UK? If so, non-essential overseas travel not allowed before May 17th.

As for the small Gravel Tro Breizh race that was planned on May 1st, it got postoned to September 4th because of the new french lockdown.
Race around the Netherlands still scheduled for May 1st, with the curfew in place so a mandatory stop/rest period between 22:00 and 4:30.

Seems like it was only sent to the participants now, so maybe it's more considerate to not share it yet.

At the earliest. And it's all looking a bit shambly and uncertain at the moment. As usual...

Looks like he's slowing down. Bit early for that.
-
• #4497
He was close to 37 when I checked earlier, now under 36.5. got quite a tough last 12hs to make it up.
-
• #4498
He's got/had stomach problems and was cold. Hopefully daylight will help him speed up again.

He packed after 607km in 18:35.
It didn't look good when I had a peek yesterday when he was about 6 hours in, was a couple of clicks down on the average speed at that point.
He could probably have packed sooner as, at that point it was clear he couldn't do it. It's unlikely that you can get back once you get significantly down on target - and psychologically very hard to be behind target (if there is one thing I learned from doing a few long time trials it is that). -

He's a big unit so has to be pushing a lot of air out of the way and that in turn means the energy / calorie requirements are high which then means you're gonna struggle to fuel for the duration even if he was able to maintain the power. Good on him for having a crack at it and raising a bunch of dosh for Masaka
What temp was it? I've been fine in single-digit UK evenings in just a skinsuit at 24hr power but in the USA when it went apparently went sub-zero, that all fell apart and I had quite a scare with my breathing.
