Play was in the crank not the bb. Unfortunately things have gottten worse, edited post above

I think I will have to cut these off with the anglegrinder as I don't think the bolt is going to drill out

Might be worth taking to a local car mechanic and seeing if they can weld something L shaped to what remains of the nut. Hopefully it would be strong enough to take the bolt out. It might cost you a tenner or something, but cheaper than destroying a crankset.

Try drilling the bolt with a 5mm drill and using an easy-out bolt extractor?

This worked! Thanks for the suggestion. Cranks saved.
Decided to swap some cranks around.
These Raceface ride cranks had some play so I'd really tightened the fixing bolt.
Went to undo it and the Allen key slipped and deformed the bolt. I'm now trying to drill it out. Not sure if I have any other options now.
