Already done the half marathon and 10k while training, so just the 5k to do!

Podium5k on runninglive Facebook page this evening. Men's elite race is at 8 and you can bet on it through William Hill. What a treat for Easter Saturday!

Watched a clubmate just sneak under 16mins as she clocked 15:59.8.
And a British women’s 5k record for Beth Potter too, beating Paula Radcliffe’s time. Not bad for a triathlete ;)

That's quality. Well done her.
A LOT of chat about Beth Potter tonight!

^ they were saying it was a provisional WR too?
-
• #25487
Oh yes. She did 🤦♂️
And all she got was a small clap after from a few people before they realised.

• #25488
Bravo. Must feel great to have it all pay off!

Beth Potter was wearing the Asics carbon bouncy fast shoe. Is it even better than Nike's?
Retail at £225 ouch.

Would be interested to try it, the Nikes are pretty insane and I have more than enough shoes to get me through to brighton in the autumn.

So summers coming and normally I'd be shaving the fuzz off the ol legs. I'm not cycling much these days though so was wondering - Do the ex cyclist turned runners here still shave?
-
• #25493
Well done Ed! Great to see your hard work paying off

Anyone using a theragun or similar? My calves refuse to loosen up despite months of rollering, stretching, strengthening.. previously I had some success with a proper sports massage so I’m wondering if I could approximate with power tools.
-

Yes, I bought a theragun prime about 2 months ago, it seems to have helped, it’s better than a foam roller and stretching and not as good as a sports massage but then you can use it everyday...
In truth I use it 2-3 times per week, as it’s pretty noisy, I can’t watch tv over it so it takes a dedicated 15 minutes to sit down to use it...

I’m thinking about buying a theragun mini for the same reasons. I’m on the fence but if I do I’ll let you know how I get on.

Thanks - I went down a Reddit rabbit hole last night and ended up paying significantly less for a knock-off unbranded version and using some Am*zon vouchers I’d had since Christmas. I’ll also report back.. The theragun mini seemed to be aggressively discounted now (still pricey)
I had this on Thursday!
Over the last few months I've done 10k PBs in consecutive weeks, and kept up a good 5k time, but training on Thursday night still left me feeling slow and off the pace.
Good stamina, and I was as slow and off the pace at the end as I had been at the start, but the first game back tomorrow morning is going to be a tough tough welcome back.
